Very Central, nice rooms, great pool and spa

I just got back from six days in Sydney where I stayed at this hotel for the first time. As an artist I draw every day so I need a view or two from my room.

The staff are very pleasant, the lifts are efficient and the pool/spa make this hotel a must. From the roof top you can look right down Hyde Park, up Oxford Street to Taylor Square (Great for Mardi gras) and you can also see the harbor in front of Woolloomooloo.

Unique Quality: Spa, Pool and Sauna see sketches.

Cooking facilities in room.

Smoking and non smoking floors.

Comfortable Budget Hotel

It'll not win any awards, but the Park Regis a perfectly comfortable budget business hotel, rooms approx $150 in a great location (2 minutes to Hyde Park in one direction, 2 minutes the other way will find you at Sydney Town Hall).

Tiny foyer at street level (locked after 10pm but there is 24 hour security so not a problem) and a bit of a crush at the lifts, but the hotel occupies floors 5 - 14 of this 45 storey building (you can also take the lift to the 45th floor - great views over the city and a small pool available for hotel guests). Public access spaces are generally 'tight' (corridors on the room floors do not give you much space) and I assume that the hotel is an office conversion.

As a result of the lack of space, somewhat suprised by the size of the rooms (although I had booked a King Size room for A$10 per night more) - for this price range and location, certainly the biggest rooms I had stayed in in Sydney (and fairly funky too!)

Unique Quality: King size bed, one wall is virtually all glass overlooking the city towards Hyde Park. Windows can be opened but as the hotel is on the junction of Castlereagh and Park, can get noisy at weekends late at night. Plasma screen TV, lots of space in the room, walk-in shower (no bath) with limited products. Pool on the 45th floor and sun-lounge area with great views over the city.

Friendly, easy going - very good value for money. Clean, central, friendly, funky without being overdesigned, functional. Large Woolworths 2 minutes walk for provisions (open until midnight) and lots of cafes, bars etc in the vicinity.

LIKE THE CENTRAL PARK, GOOD VALUE BUDGET IN THE CITY, NOTHING TO DISLIKE BUT DIFFICULT TO RAVE. I WOULD BE OK ABOUT RETURNING HERE.

More about Park Regis Hotel Sydney

Loved the location, despised the hotel

by TripAdvisor Member MelUSA

Great location! Right in the middle of downtown Sydney. As for the hotel - the shower was FREEZING - no hot water. When we complained the concierge blamed it on us and told us we did't know how to use the hot water - and trust me we know how to put on the hot water in a shower - it's not rocket science. The hotel is under renovations. The worker start drilling etc. at 8:00 am and don't stop until 6pm (18:00). The room was clean, bed comfortable but quite small.
I wouldn't stay there again.

Loved it and Hope to Return

I've noticed that this hotel has had some mixed reviews but I don't understand why. I loved it here and found everything to be perfect. I stayed in a suite which was very clean and well decorated, the people at the front desk were very friendly and helpful and the location is superb. Being in the heart of the city it can be a little loud at night, but other than that I thought it was perfect (not to mention unexpensive). I hope to return soon.

modern and clean

by TripAdvisor Member shazzatrace

we stayed here for ny 06 and loved it, right in the centre of things we were in the bars nearby til the early hours of the morning. The swimming pool was handy up on the roof although would have benefitted from a few sun loungers. Thought the rooms were fab, very modern and well worth the money, definatley stay here again if we're lucky enough to visit the fantastic city of Sydney again

Very Central, well priced

by TripAdvisor Member Bobcat34B

A great wee hotel. Very friend staff let us have an early check-in without any extra charge. Short walk to Pitt Street mall, George Street shops, CentrePoint Tower, Darling Harbour, Circular Quay and The Rocks. A pub, bottle shop, and coffee shop on the same block and a supermarket one block over.
The room was small, but clean and tide. Nice LCD TV, but not many channels. Sheets were changed and bathroom cleaned every day. We were on the 15 floor (at the top of the hotel) and the noise from the street below was still quite noticable.
I would recommend to anyone wanting a reasonable priced accommodation in central Sydney and would be happy to stay there again myself.

accomodation - sydney

by DUGGO

Hi
Been searching for hotels and found this one within our budget:

Leisure Inns Park Regis Sydney
27 Park Street
Cnr Park and Castlereagh Street

It looks fairly central (or as central as we can afford). Is this area ok - is it near to places to eat in the evening, and is it far from the bridge and opera house? It's supposed to be adjacent to the monorail so I think transport will be ok (I assume we can get a train to the centre from the airport and then catch the monorail?)

Thanks

The Park Regis is in a great spot to see Sydney, its almost dead centre. its a few blocks from the harbour, a few blocks from Kings Cross and Oxford street our night life areas close to darling harbour and very near all transport and reasonalbe food shops, both cafes and supermarket, several musems and art gallarys. If i was getting from the airport to there I would get a 400 bus to bondi junction railway station then a train to Town Hall station , depends on how much luggage u have, or for the first trip id probably just get a shuttle bus into the city, they drop you off at your hotel. I hope you have a great stay, if you have any more questions just ask. The monorail is a big waste of time and space, it goes nowhere and costs too much, only tourists use it and its a rip off. we call it the monster rail.
