Great Stay
by TripAdvisor Member SomPol
The four of us stayed there for 3 nights in a 2 bedrooms suite in early October. We arrived early in the morning when the room was not ready but a front desk staff was quite gracious by leting us freshen up using the pool facility.
The suite we stayed in was extra spacious with 2 bathrooms, full size kitchen, living room, and dining area. It was aslo very well kept and clean. Another great point was the fact that the suite was facing toward the back of the building....no street noise. As for the location, the hotel is situated in a safe area 5 mins from Chinatown, 5 mins from Daring Habour, 10 mins QV shopping arcade.
I loved this hotel and will stay there again. The only thing we cannot comment on is the food.
Loved this Amazing Hotel Im on Visit no.2

I just returned along with my cousins from this hotel in Sydney it was unbelievable and amazing actually this is trip number 2 to this hotel and ONLY will stay at this hotel in Sydney. This hotel is centrally located for everything just at the hear of darling harbour which is superb. To me there is no other hotel in Sydney as this hotel. The Staffs are so welcoming and very accommodating hats off to the staffs who were on duty october 25 in the a.m. also on the 22 of oct. The staffs are always smiling. The best also of this hotel especially for my cousins they loved the free internet. Anyway usually Radisson are very good hotels but this is exceptional its all about LOCATION,LOCATION,great big rooms, lovely amenities, and amazing staffs, I really did not eat at the hotel as there are so many restaurant and other dining options at your doorstep. I also loved the monorail by the hotel. I recommend a friend to this hotel and should was very amazed and loved it. Please dont hesitate to stay here its amazing.

I am sure that there are much more opulent hotels you can stay in, in Sydney but if you want a good priced hotel in a good location with excellent facilities you cant go wrong - there is nothing bad to say about this hotel.
The hotel staff were always pleasant and could not be more helpful when recommending day trips and restaurants. Internet conncetion is also free for hotel guests in the business centre.
We stayed in a standard room which was HUGE! The bed was ennourmous and we had an area with a desk and sofa. The bathroom is very spacious and the room also boasts a kitchenette area - perfect for travelling families! The room was serviced every day and always clean.
The hotel is about a two minuite walk from Darling Harbour, which has a huge aray of restaurants and bars. In the other direction - the main shopping area and the QV Building is about a five minuite walk.
There is no need to travel to a meeting point for your tours as they will collect you from the hotel.
Great Hotel but...........

We arrived at the hotel on Tuesday 5th Dec at approx 6pm for a seven night stay. We were allocated a room on the 3rd floor (309 I think) to the back of the hotel. The view from the living area of our accomodation faced a brick wall with the next level above having windows which looked directly into our accomodation. There was no net curtains for the room only wooden shutters which blocked off all light. The 1 bedroom suite was furnished in a sparse fashion as it was designed for a handicapped person who might require wheelchair access. During the night whilst walking around the suite I caught the sole of my foot on the raised tiled area of the kitchen.
The next morning I complained to the reception staff who agreed to move us to a different room later that day.
That afternoon we were reallocated to a room on the eighth foor overlooking Liverpool Street. This I bedroom suite was much better furnished that the previous room and had a balcony. The remainder of our stay was great and we would stay again at this hotel.
The Radisson Hotel Group upgraded us at the time of our booking to include free buffet breakfast. This was an excellent start to each morning of our holiday.
One tip for fellow travellors is to request fried or poached eggs as you check in for breakfast each, the only eggs on offer at the buffet were scrambled and they looked decidely unappetizing to say the least.
Excellent Stay at the Radisson

After 22 hours flying I was glad to make it to the hotel. The check in staff were friendly and efficient in the few times I went to the desk. The room was a good size and well cleaned with pleanty of space for clothes etc. There was a safe in the room which costs a few dollars a night. The room also had broadband although I could not get any connection from it. Luckily there were ample wireless networks in the area. Both the safe key and broadband cable were available from reception, and if you know these are wanted it's worth asking for while checking in. I did not eat in the restaurant as there was a huge variety of food outlets a short distance away (a few 24hours). I used the gym and swimming pool once on my stay, because I could not sleep I went in there at 6am to find the running machine already taken. The pool was a bit on the cold side but was fine after a lap. The jacuzzi and sauna were great and the whole atmostphere in the pool area was made special by the stars on the ceiling.
I could not fault the location of the hotel, outside was the monorail and a short distance away was China Town and Darling Harbour. It was a brisk 30 minute walk up to the bridge and Opera House. The only disadvantage was the coach tours do not pick up outside, although it was only a few minutes walk to the next one that did.
Overall I was very happy with my stay and would definately stay there again if I make it back to Sydney.
Very nice hotel, great staff

My husband, 3 older children and I stayed in a 2 bedroom suite w/ balcony, kitchenette, 2 bathrooms and living area. Accomodations were perfect, hotel very clean, staff extremely helpful. Approx 1- 1 1/2 miles to Sydney Harbor, and an even shorter distance to Darling Harbor. Just a few blocks from Botanical Gardens and Anzac Memorial. A great deal for the price. Would definitely recommend this hotel.
nice hotel but very noisy
by TripAdvisor Member francisBelgium
the hotel as such is quite good value for money
the rooms are big and clean as is the bathroom
the beds are very comfortable
breakfast is average
people at the reception are nice
however if you like to sleep beyond 7 am this is not the place for you
the background noise level of liverpool street ,the airconditioning, the fridge and the monorail is already quite unpleasant but at 7 am construction workers across the road start to give hour long sessions of excruciating drilling which make sleeping impossible.
Fantastic. What a location!

We have just spent the weekend at the Radisson Suites in Sydney. We were on a "girls weekend" away so wanted to be near everything. Well we were. This is a great location. We walked to Darling Harbour, Paddy's market and the city. We were also in walking distance of the ferry to Circular Quay and the Rocks. The staff here were wonderful. Nothing was too much trouble. We were at the back of the building so did not experience the noise, however as with previous reviews, I could see that the front units may suffer a bit as the streets are quite busy until the early hours. We were also just down the road from Chinatown. The breakfast buffet is lovely. We did not eat at the restaurant for dinner or get room service mainly because we were always out exploring Sydney. The pool and spa were a hit with us and there is a gym as well. Also a business centre. This hotel has it all. And for a group they were willing to split the king beds to singles for us. We found this one of the most economical hotels as breakfast was included and we could walk everywhere. I highly recommend it.
Excellent staff

Hotel is well sited with the Darling Harbour area of Sydney a few minutes walk away. The suite was well equiped, included a kitchen (and utensils) and had a decent internet connection, although the bedroom was a bit on the small size. The one thing that makes this hotel special is the staff, they go out of their way to help you, whether giving directions, talking about Sydney or arranging tours they all go out of their way to give 110%.

What is the smartest way changing currancy?
by inselkind
Hello everybody!
I hope you can help me.
I'm going to Australia next week coming from England. As it happens I have got around 500 Euro in cash lying around in my drawer and I'm wondering what is the smartest option
-to take the money with me to australia and change it into AU Dollars in Sydney
-to change it at my bank here in London
-to just put it into my bank account and withdraw the money from the cash machine in Australia.
Considering the Pound is quite weak at the moment and the Euro stronger and Exchange Rates what would do? I don't know how the AU Dollar is in relation to that currancies as well.
Propably doesn't make a big difference for that amount and will take the rest of the money just out of the cash machine overther out of convenience, but I'm curious.
Thanks

Usually the best rate comes from an ATM. Just need to check with your bank about any fees. Happy Travels!

The Australian Dollar is very low against the Euro at the present time. Your 500 Euro will almost double. The GBP has decreased against the Australian dollar in recent times as well. Now I'm no banker or financier but I think you would be best to change it from Euro directly to Australian Dollars and probably through your bank account and the Aussie ATM's.

If you change the Euros into Sterling and then change the Sterling into Aussie dollars you will be loosing twice on the exchange. Best to bring the Euro with you and change them there once.

For convenience's sake, just take the Euros with you, in a safe place (not wallet) on your body, such as a money belt. Change them when you arrive in Sydney. Saving peace of mind is sometimes better than saving a few Euros or dollars, and worrying about where to find an ATM machine when you've just flown a long distance and might feel jet-lagged or dis-oriented. Good luck!

When I travel I keep options. ATM is by far the best - I have a regular ATM card, and a VISA credit card. Sometimes for whatever reason the ATM does not want to work - I fall back on the VISA. I *always*, however, bring around 300 US dollars just in case I have issues with the cards I can exchange them. If going to Europe I'll probably bring aroung 400 since the exchange is not as well. It's only a way to have an extra option as a failsafe. Normally I bring my all US currency back, but once I did have to exchange $100 USD in a hotel because the ATM did not work.

As Repleo correctly stated, you lose money with every transaction. And if you change the Euros into AU$, do it in Australia. The rate would even be better in Oz than changing it in a country with Euro currency.

I"m a big fan of bringing your money with you, and getting the best exchange rate when you see at one of the Australian Banks. I also ended up using my visa everywhere I went, it was easy and convenient, and it just took the daily exchange rate.
