Sydney's Own Flatiron Building

We had an excellence service from the helpful Reception. On our request, we were given a quiet room away from the lift area.

Unique Quality: What we love is the architecture of the hotel that resembles the flatiron building in New York. The room decor was simple but pleasing, spacious and clean. Also, it is situated near many of the city's landmarks. From here you could easily go on foot to Sydney Harbour and Pitt Street.

Lap of Contemporary Luxury

The Radisson Plaza is one of Sydney's grand dame hotels. Located in the city centre less than 10 minutes walk from Circular Quays, the hotel is the superb renovation and reconstruction of the 1850s Fairfax Building, built as the headquarters of Australia's biggest publishers.

A 21st century hotel in one of the grandest buildings of the 1800s, a building that was partically rebuilt and expanded in the 1920s (with the front dome added to provide a perspective of height to a central location which at the time had a limit of buildings being no more than 150 feet high). It works spectacurly, and the Radisson Plaza has to be one of the most comfortable of hotels in the Sydney.

Unique Quality: On the eleventh floor, the front facing rooms all have balconies - a perfect spot to while away the hours people watching below. All rooms have king-sized beds, all decked out in neutral and chocolate colours. Huge bathrooms with plenty of product on offer, and if you want to continue the water theme, a small lap pool is available. A self-styled boutique hotel, although at 336 rooms and 26 suites, the terminology of 'boutique' is certainly changing!

Within the hotel is to be found 'Bilson's' Restaurant, the latest from award-winning chef Tony Bilson. A 'three hat' restaurant, this is one of the best in Sydney. If you do not want to remortgage your home to eat, the hotel also has the more affordable BistroFax on the premises (but the location of the hotel is such that you do not have to only eat in the hotel!).

RATED ONE OF THE BEST IN SYDNEY, AND DESERVEDLY SO.

While I was in sydney I stayed...

While I was in sydney I stayed in the Radisson at darling harbour. As I was working with the Radisson chain at the time they gave me a nice room with a nice discount! The hotel is in a great location and the rooms are very comfortable.

Luxury in the City

Decided to splurge so stayed here, and were not disappointed. Great service, for e.g. drinks vouchers were part of our deal, and when they only gave me one drinks voucher - understandable, as I checked in alone and my partner joined me later- they were VERY quick to rectify it, sending a bellboy up to slip another voucher under my door! They were also very good and held our luggage without hassle for the day of our departure. Extremely quiet - great soundproofing in rooms (there was construction work outside we didn't even notice until we left the hotel for the day!), and a good breakfast. Very centrally located- we walked just about everywhere. Best of all, you could watch TV from the bath, through an engenious window / shutter set up in the bathroom!

Unique Quality: Centrally located, with a great bathroom setup that allows you to watch TV from the bath!

More about Radisson Plaza Hotel Sydney

Didn't get the basics right

by TripAdvisor Member somanyhotels

Our stay at the Radisson last weekend was unfortunately marred by a lack of attention to the basics - things that you should be no-brainers for a five star hotel. After checking into our room, we discovered the toilet had not been flushed, not the most ideal start. We ordered room servcie late in the evening that arrived barely warm, but given the hour and our blood sugar levels we ate it anyway. The buffet breakfast at Bistro Fax the next morning was a debarcle, we waited several minutes to be acknowledged and seated, followed by many more waits for crockery, cutlery, glasses and food (at seperate times). A saving grace was the jovial breakfast chef who kept the folks distracted. After breakfast, we asked for a weekend paper to read - after searching for several minutes we were finally offered the business section of the weekend Australian. Surely a a variety of papers (in their entirety) should be readily at hand in a hotel like this. On the up side, the staff were very friendly and helpful, so the Radisson has the portential to be a great place to stay if they can cover off the basics.

Absolute Class

We stayed here for a romantic night away from home. We had a spa suite in the front apex of the hotel. This hotel is high class from the minute you pull up outside the building until your car is returned to you at the end of the stay. Professional staff, clean, beatifully appointed room and a gorgeous bed all add up to the perfect stay. The attention to detail is fabulous. We will be staying again soon.
If you are looking for a place to eat away from the hotel, try the Masuya Japanese restaurant just meters from the hotel. Fantastic and very well priced.

Very Enjoyable Stay

by TripAdvisor Member Roberto79

My girlfriend and I stayed at the Radisson Plaza for four nights in mid-July. When we got to the hotel we were given a free upgrade due to our stay being for four nights which was a nice touch. Some hotels would try to ask for an upgrade charge but this hotel was nice enough to use their management skills to make a client feel welcome. The service in the hotel from the Porters, reception staff, concierge etc..were all great. The room was of a good size and very clean...It is a great location if you are only staying a few days as it is right next to the shopping area of Pitt Street and very near all the touristy things (bridge, opera house etc..). The leisure club is also nice. I would highly reccomend this hotel to anyone travelling to Sydney. We also stayed in another hotel in Sydney later in the trip and we did not like it as much (Four Points Sheraton by Darling Harbour).
