Rated a 4 star, I would be hard pressed to agree with that rating. Sure, its a clean hotel with a basic pool and breakfast areas but the hotel has absolutely no character and the staff have no passion in their work!
Stayed for three days, did not have the room serviced at all despite putting the sign on my door and concierge was absolutely useless with what is open on weekends etc. In fact we ended up ringing the concierge at the Shangri-La to give us info!
Bathrooms did not have any exhaust fans so the floor, walls, everything got everything absolutely SOAKED when you had a 5 minute shower.
A big fat pass on this one!
Unique Quality: Great location for those wanting to stay in the Rocks area, and an easy walk to everything.
I wanted to have a little family treat of staying in the city before Christmas & I was very keen to stay somewhere close to the water, maybe even with harbour views of some sort, even if limited. Expense was the biggest barrier to achieving that latter aim.
Doing a bit of searching on the net allowed me to discover the Rendezvous Stafford Hotel for $245 per night for our family of 4. The twin girls are still small enough to confortable share the single sofa bed.
This hotel complex is smallish, but the service is very good with friendly, helpful Aussies at your service. They are very responsive to requests & will help out any way they can.
It is located in a great spot in The Rocks & is only a couple of minutes walk down to Circular Quay which is the perfect spot from which to begin any exploration of Sydney.
There is a complimentary continental breakfast available in the breakfast room overlooking the pool & outdoor seating area on the ground level.
This is a 4 Star Hotel which is good value in terms of its location. There aren't many hotels around Circular Quay & The Rocks that are 4 or 5 Stars that are anywhere near this price. 5 Stars will generally cost you anything from mid 300's up to over 700 Australian $ per night.
For the above reasons I would recommend you stay here unless you can afford the 5 star luxuries & views offered by those other hotels.
We will definitely stay there again if we can get another good deal.
Unique Quality: Great views indeed. Click on my attached photo to see our view which we enjoyed from the balcony of our room on the fourth floor - Room 410.
Now I must add here that you have to be on Floor 4 with the 400 rooms or higher on the 5th or 6th Floors to enjoy this view. There are other rooms in this little complex that are cheaper, but have street views onto Harrington Street only.Frankly there is no comparison.
