Unique Quality: Often stated to be the worlds best... not sure about that claim but it is good. Clean, new, central location. Almost always booked out unless you want a dorm bed mid week. It is not as cheap as others but the really cheap ones in the Cross are pretty awful. You dont have to be a YHA member to stay here. They have a rooftop pool, sauna, BBQ, games room, 24-hour security access, internet facilities, bistro, mini mart and a bar.

check out the youth hostel association(yha) places in sydney.
the railway square yha recently won an award for best hostel/backpacker accommodation. the sydney central yha is around the corner from it and both are in good locations - close to cheap food in chinatown, walking distance to darling harbour, very close to transport routes. the sydney central yha has double rooms with private facilities. there is also a rooftop pool!
these days, the yha places are for all ages, no more dingy and dreary and very popular.

happy planning.
I agree, we stayed at the Central YHA hostel in Sydney in early Feb this year for 2 nights. It was so close to everything and the public transport system was great - buses, trains and boats all connected !!
We had a double room with bathroom and it was clean and fine for the price, though there were cheaper rooms too. It also had a tiny pool on the top floor and an attached restaraunt.
thanks so much
i'll check that out ^__^
