Wheelchair vehicle transfer to/from International airport & domestic airport

by bobjan13

My husband is currently in a wheelchair and we will be travelling to Sydney for overnight stays prior and on return from overseas medical trip.
Apart from a wheelchair taxi, can anyone suggest a company that has a vehicle with wheelchair lift that I can prebook to collect us on each occasion that we go through Sydney domestic & international airports. Travel is 18 November and return to Sydney again on 02 December, so need information asap.

Thanks
Jan C

There is a shuttle bus that operates 24/7 between the terminals - http://www.carbridge.com.au/s2.php Looking at the photo, the bus "may" be wheelchair friendly. Failing that, can I suggest you contact Sydney Airport and get them to come up with a workable solution. For wheelchair passengers they should/must be able to help.

Sirgaw said it all. You will not have a problem provided you pre-arrange.

In the Sydney Metropolitan area wheelchair accessible taxis may be booked 24 hours a day through the following central booking service or by contacting a network or driver directly.

Travel Tips for Sydney

Just sitting and relaxing at DH

by Bendokan

While being in Sydney I enjoyed the quite moments sitting on the steps at Darling Harbour. While sitting on these steps you can have a look at the wonderful bay, check out some of the boats who are docked there and look at the people passing by... and off course you can't forget the frequently passing monorail.
Just enjoying the sounds of the ocean, the people and the city life are recomforting when you are hassling to find cheap accomodations or deciding to were to spend your evening. Once, I was sitting there when 2 of the Harbour taxis collided in the waters... quite funny to see and this was my special moment which brought a perfect smile on my face and launched me to meet new people in several bars... Some moments are just unforgettable !!

surf sun and sand.

To me these beaches here are the best ive seen anywhere with a few others maybe scattered around australia. One beach that comes to mind is North Narrabeen beach ,it has a reputation among the surfing fraternity being host in the past to world surf titles and many big names have graced these shores .You may come here oneday and the surf depending on weather conditions maybe fairly small but on another day it can be 10 ft barrels which can leave you battered and bruised at other times you may find smooth glassy waves, generally speaking though theres always a designated area for general bathing and thats between the flags which are set up by the beach patrol they only do this where its safe and its the only place that surfers arent aloud.

Sydney Tip

Here's another view of the majestic SYDNEY HARBOR BRIDGE on New Year's Day.

The famed Sydney to Hobart Yacht race is one event you shouldn't miss too. It finishes in Hobart, Tasmania where there'd be a big bash honoring the victors.

Walking and Crossing the Street

by yellowbell

Stay on your left side while walking Sydney's busy streets, pedestrian tunnels, escalators etc. Busy people overtake you on your right so don't stand in their way or you'd be shoved aside or shouted at.

Try standing in a corner of a sidestreet and you'd be surprised that vehicles would stop and let you cross. Such courteous drivers indeed!

Look to your right and then left when you cross the street.

Packing List

sun cream, sun cream and more sun cream and maybe a hat. t-shirts and shorts and a pair of flip-flops every thing is avalible over here just as cheap as at home. any camera will do but a good zoom camera will get you the best photos to send home for every one to look at and wish they where here. strong water proof sun block is a must for any day on the beach.beaches to visit whilst here are coogee, wollongong, cronulla and manly.
