distance and time

by brat_kc2003

how far is the Sydney opera house from the terminal 1 airport of Sydney and how long is the travel time? thanks

Re: distance and time

by colin_bramso

It's about 15 kilometres from the airport to the Opera House and - depending on time of day and traffic of course - should take about thirty or forty minutes by taxi.

You could also take a train (to Circular Quay station) but as I've never done it I'm not sure how long the journey takes.

Sydney airport is located 10kms from the city centre. Sydney Opera house is located near Circular Quay on Sydney Harbour. There are three main transport options.

1. Sydney Airport Link is a train service from the Airport to Circular Quay via city stations. A return train ticket is $25.00 and the trip takes 20 minutes.

2. Taxi - approximately $25.00 to $35.00 each way depending on time of day and traffic conditions - trip time varies but allow at least 30 minutes.

3. Airport Express 300 bus service. This is the slowest option as the bus makes stops along the route but also the cheapest at $12.00 for a return ticket. Buy tickets from the driver.

Travel Tips for Sydney

by Ronbee

Take a Harbour Cruise, pretty cheap for such a spectacular trip. Also, make sure you make it to the new Olympic site at Homebush, and up the Blue Monutians if you have time. The bicentennial celebrations of 1988, when millions of people gathered on the foreshore of the Harbour for the biggest party I have ever seen. We ate at the Rocks, listened to some great live bands, and generally went crazy. In the morning we walked down to Coogee Beach, where we watched the sunrise, an incredible experience.

Taste Fabulous Australian Wines

by cjg1

Australia has some fabulous wines from the Hunter Valley and other regions of Australian. During our most recent trip we enjoyed several wonderful Australian wines and even took a few bottles home with us. I would suggest visiting some wine shops or even the Hunter VAlley to sample some of these fabulous wines of Australia.

Visit The Botanical gardens and The Domain. This is the site of the country’s first park and an oasis in the busy city where you can enjoy the vast collection of native and exotic flora. Lovely place to rest a while and just sit and think.Look at the flowers and plants.

Every January, the Sydney Festival takes place - a whole host of events including music, theatre and dance. It's a great time to visit Sydney! There's a website at www.sydneyfestival.org.au which may well be re-activated in time for the next one...
