Bridge Climb Parking

by shtan

Can anybody suggest a car parking station for Bridge Climbers that don't cost a bomb on a weekday?

I just looked up WILSON PARKING who run many parking facilities in Oz.
Assuming that you may want to visit the Opera House area and Circular Quay, why not take advantage of their Car Park at Sydney Opera House?

Also they have an EARLY BIRD offer. It says this:
Beat the Sydney Harbour Bridge Congestion Tax
The Sydney Opera House car park is now open from 6:00am
Earlybird Fees
Entry between 6:00am and 10:00am, exit between 3:00pm and 7:30pm. Not valid public holidays - Monday - Friday $14.00

These are web sites -----
http://www.wilsonparking.com.au
then NSW and Sydney City North.

BUT check that those Early Bird fees are still available for your visit.

Or park outside the City centre and take a ferry to Circular Quay ?

We are staying in Northrocks and we are a group of 6 adults with a rental MPV. So splitting the car parking fee will be ok. We plan to do the 10am climb.

I agree with Puerto Lover- Opera House parking will be best.

Lynne- that line from Kipling -- The first condition of understanding a foreign country is to smell it---- on your profile is so right. I associate different countries with different smells. But I am not getting any Sydney smells coming through my nostrils right now.

LOL! Come to Sydney Nige- then you will smell it!

If you're at North Rocks, you could drive to Epping or Eastwood Station, then catch a train into town.
If you time it right the express-country trains pull through there, but they seem to alternate between stations.

My Guide

by Marpessa

When I was in Sydney I travelled by myself, did it my way. But I did buy a guide book before leaving and found that it came in very handy.

It was Lonely Planet's 'Sydney (Condensed)' (2nd ed. June 2002). The maps and information were spot on. The suggested itineraries for walks were great and very helpful. It was also how I found my accommodation. While you can still get the 'Condensed' guide, the most recent edition (Nov. 2004) is now called 'Best of Sydney' - I recommend this guide for anyone who is planning a short trip to Sydney.

see the world famous SYDNEY...

by Krystynn

see the world famous SYDNEY OPERA HOUSE here at The Rocks/ Circular Quay. Your day would be considered perfect if you head down to Circular Quay, take one of the many cruises available here (we took the Captain Cook Harbor Cruise costing us approx. A$10 - A$15. (I think). Whatever it is, it ain't expensive....), don't forget to take loads of wonderful pictures and then end off your (already) perfect day with a sizzling concert at the Sydney Opera House. Even if you don't have enough time to explore the rest of Sydney, just coming here would be enough. In which case, you must stay at one of the many lovely hotels located here. More on that later.

THE COLOR OF MONEY

by AmazingAdventures

Australian dollars (AUD) are all different colours!

The lowest denomination dollar bill note is $5.00 and it's purple

The $10.00 note is blue

The $20.00 note is orange

The $50.00 note is dark yellow

and the $100.00 note is green

Unfortunetly I don't know the colours of the notes over $100, but I bet they sure are pretty.

Coins come in the denominations of 5, 10, 20, and 50 cent pieces (silver), followed by gold $1.00 coins and $2.00 coins. 1 cent coins no longer exist and were phased out about 10 years ago.

Packing List

If your on a long haul flight take plenty of reading matter, theres only so many movies you can stand! The neck support rests that you can buy from Airport terminals look invaluable, I saw several people managing to get a few hours kip while we were unable to due to aches and pains! Plenty of Mosquito repellent! Plenty of Sun Tan Lotion (see Pic) Digital camera very useful, for VT users!
