City Sider: Only Motel Close to CBD

We booked ahead and I am glad we did as we wanted a ground floor room. They have family rooms by the way. And some rooms are upstairs.

We wanted to be able to walk to the CBD and it was only a couple of minutes away

Not flash but clean and enough room for our needs. All the usual facilities for Australia...frig, tea making....Air Con

Ample parking but places not designated.

The restaurant was not open nor has it ever been when we have stayed before...but I was told it had just closed as the chef went elsewhere.

Unique Quality: Position wise it is the only one close to CBD....

First Fleeters Park: History and a place to stop

A little further inland on the New England Highway at Wallabadah there’s a wonderful site now completed. It’s a designated overnight stay only but what an example they’ve set for other councils.
Here, set beside a small stream, is a spacious site where you can not only park your vehicle but also get a history lesson at the same time.

Unique Quality: This is a classic example of what someone with vision can do, as explained on the interpretive signs. Liverpool Shire Plains Council supported the farsightedness of Ray Collins, a direct descendent of those who arrived on the First Fleet and so there now appears a delightful park with the full history and names of all the First Fleeters.
There are toilet and barbecue facilities to match the high standard of the rest of the park with its lovely landscaped gardens.

Motel Grande: A nice mid range stay

I enjoy this hotel and have stayed there twice now. Mike and Heather, (owners)are great, rooms clean and tidy, and I was always offered help, assistance etc

The meals were fantastic. There is only room service but I couldn't fault the standard of the meals.

It's not an easy walking distance to clubs etc but it can be done. Souths Leagues Club is not too far away. The motel has an arrangement with several clubs whereby you can put your meals on your motel bill - this was very convenient.

Unique Quality: The pool is nice, just what you need after being out in the sun.

Alternative: The Ritz it aint

This is what a lot of people choose to stay in during the Country Music Week.

Unique Quality: "Unique Qualities". Now there's a heading that leaves the door wide open for someone with my warped sense of humour.
With every motel bed booked out a year in advance and prices at a premium this may be all that's left for you to stay in.
This is what happens to the sporting field adjacent to the West Tamworth Leagues Club and, if you're not into roughing it a little and communal living, then you might want to give it a miss but, hundreds end up here. Such is the attraction of the festival and, hey, it's cheap!
