Crowne Plaza Hotel Terrigal

For those who love the beach

The Crowne Plaza is located approx one hour drive north of Sydney. It’s in a fabulous position directly across the road from the beach. I have stayed here numerous times over the years and regardless of countless name changes, it still is the major icon hotel in Terrigal. With the beach directly across the road and the swaying Norfolk Pine trees, this is your typical Australian family beach hotel to enjoy.

Check- in – The staff were very friendly, fast and efficient.

Room – Our room 1512 was an ocean view room with a small balcony which also overlooked the pool. The room is definitely not modern or chic and is seriously dated with a “country cosy” feel but it's comfortable, and once you smell the ocean air, you begin to really relax. The room had a double bed, small lounge suite and coffee table with mini bar and working desk, which was totally adequate.

Bathroom – Again it represented a country atmosphere with shower over the bath and a wooden vanity suite which all seemed to blend into the blue and white décor.

Staff – were very friendly and efficient.

In-house service – we decided to have breakfast on our balcony, the food and service was up to scratch, not wonderful but okay.

Pool - the pool is lovely but on the small size if the hotel was busy. (Beach across the road). Fabulous spa facilities to pamper yourself with endless massages.

Restaurants and bars – there are two restaurants and a modern chic bar with plenty of candles and small couches. On the lower outdoor level there is a large open air pub which plays life music throughout the day and night. It’s also the local’s pub and nightclub. Noise can be a problem but I was happy to hear the rhythm of the music in time with the ocean waves.

For those looking for a little more privacy or upmarket establishment I suggest staying at the new Quay West Resort at Toukley. (Approx 40mins north from Terrigal).

Unique Quality: Overall – this hotel really suits families with young kids or teenagers, it would be a lovely summer getaway, the beach is across the road and the pool not too big but certainly fabulous for adults with children. We enjoyed our short stay here, in summer time I guess I would be down at the beach, enjoying my beach getaway.
