Just a fun one...
by CandS
Just a fun one... If you visit Wagga Wagga...you can just call it Wagga (pronounced "Wogga")...unless of course you don't mind someone having a giggle at your expense. ;) Not that it matters much but nobody that lives here ever calls it Wagga Wagga - except maybe the Mayor of the city. :)
City to Lake Fun Run
by CandS
The City to Lake Fun Run is the largest free fun run in Australia. It is usually held the second Sunday in September each year. In 2006 it will be held on Sunday, 10 September.
People can run, walk, skate, ride a bike, cartwheel or whatever you like... The race usually takes anywhere between about 30 minutes and 1.5 hours to finish the 9 km track (which goes from the Civic Centre to Apex Park at Lake Albert). Dogs are also welcome in the 'race' as long as they are friendly and restrained. ;)
At the end there is a BBQ and presentations...a great way to spend some time chatting and relaxing. Everyone who enters gets a certificate at the end and your time gets published in the local newspaper a few days later...
There are also a few other things on in Wagga on the same weekend so it is a great time to visit Wagga. The Jazz Festival, Farmers Markets and some other events are also on over that weekend... :) Make sure you have good walking/running shoes and comfortable clothes.
A 'best dressed' prize is also on offer for the person or people who dress up the most interesting... :)
Riverina Playhouse
by victorwkf
The Riverina Playhouse is a theatre at Wagga Wagga located along Tarcutta Street near to the banks of the Murrumbidgee River. The seating capacity is 249 people and it is available to hire for performances. I came across this place while walking along the river and heading back to Baylis Street :)
