Great, directely on the beach

This is a large modern newer hotel with a good location directly on the beach. Some topless sun worshipers on the beach.

DO NOT stay in this hotel during moths month(s)

When I first checked in to the hotel, was impressed by the location and lovely ocean view. By night, returned to the room there was a large swarm of moths flying around (in addition to some which were already dead on the floor) called the concierge immediately. First, they acted surprised that there were moths, and then they admitted that it was the migration season of moths. They tried to find another room, but somehow all the rooms they suggested had some amount of moths in it. The front desk even made the statement that if not for the moths they would charge more for the room. My roommate did not sleep for one night, had to listen to one moth trapped behind her headboard all night. They did slip a note under the door apologizing for having removed the balcony furniture due to the strong winds - you would think that the moths issue is much more serious than missing some balcony furniture.

Stayed with Novotel in several locations (Paris, Canada); the service of this hotel was terrible and very disappointing. They were extremely rude and unprofessional.

Fab location by the seaside.

The Novotel is situated directly across the road from the beach and one hour drive south of Sydney. The best thing about this hotel is the position, within walking distance to town and the railway station and a quick skip across the road to the beach.

The hotel has two bars, restaurant, swimming pool, sauna, spa, tennis court, gym, and sauna and free car parking. There is also a small arcade within the hotel area with a beauty salon and a few boutique shops.

We arrived late, check in was fast and efficient and we were told that they had upgraded us to a suite, (being a member of Accor hotels). Our suite had been recently remodelled and was spacious and modern. The bathroom certainly needed an upgrade, as tiles and layout very ordinary for this type of hotel. Our bed a king size was clean and comfortable. There was a strange compartment in the middle of the room which the mini bar, coffee and tea facilities were kept, TV and Video player was also provided.
Table and chairs and a small couch were also included in the room.

My dislike about this hotel was the balcony…we often stay in waterfront hotels due to our love of water, so I rate most hotels on their views and balconies. The Novotel balconies all look into each other and there is absolutely no privacy at all. I even had the neighbour next looking into our room, luckily I was fully dressed or not doing the “deed”. I cannot understand why they have not done something to solve this problem, as not being an architect I still could easily see how to rectify the problem.

Dinner at the restaurant was buffet style with a good selection of seafood, hot meals and salads. Dining outside on the balcony was also delightful and so were the staff. Overall I thought this hotel to be totally overpriced, but as others have mentioned it is in a wonderful position. We managed to get an early morning swim and walk in before breakfast which was very pleasurable.

Unique Quality: PROS: Fabulous position opposite beach with lovely sea views.
Staff was very friendly and helpful. Free car parking and plenty of other facilities. A good base for exploring the South Coast.

CONS: Rooms although upgraded and remodelled still need more work done on them, especially for the ridiculous price they charge. Bathroom needs renovations.

Stay at the Beach

My family stayed in this hotell while visiting me in Wollongong. The location is awesome, right there on North Beach. It is a really nice hotell, rooms are very good and the service is great. The restaurant makes for exellent dining. I would highly recomend this hotell. Prices are about the same as the other hotels in the city centre.

Unique Quality: Location, location, location ... and great service.

Beach side luxury

This is a 204 room modern upmarket hotel opposite Wollongong's North Beach.
The ocean view rooms give a great view of Wollongong's best beach and views of the surrounding parks.
It has all the facility's of a modern 4 star hotel. Pool, tennis courts, Room service, Restaurants and cafe's etc..

Unique Quality: There are lots of shops and top class restaurants here overlooking the beach.
Downstairs the Windjammers restaurant has a fantastic all you can eat buffet breakfast.

Great views and very nice service

Popped down to see my brother who is working on a contract with one of the banks on a due diligence project. Great location and my room overlooked the beach – about five minutes from downtown Wollongong and probably the best hotel in the city. Dinner in the restaurant was surprisingly good and breakfast can be taken on a terrace which overlooks the beach. Would highly recommend.

Unique Quality: Right across from the beach, sensational views at sunrise, handy to city

Great Location!

Since I live in Wollongong, I really have no need for accomodation. Therfore I cannot offer a review for this hotel, but can offer a little information which I think could be of value to annyone planning a trip.
The Novotel Northbeach is really in a premier position. I expect you would recieve the service and ammentities the Novotel is reknown for.
Im sure you'll pay through the nose for the location alone, but remember with location comes lifestyle. You'll be within walking distance to everything that matters. The nightlife and restuarants in the CBD, and the harbour and beaches along the forshore. If you can afford it, I'd say go for it!!!

Bit of Class on the Beach

This was before our kids were born so it was a bit of an adventure down the coast for the weekend because the reception was being hel here so no worries about drinking then driving!

Couldn't really fault anything in regard to our stay here. The sevice, facilities, amenities were all first class as befitting an establishment of its obvious class for that area.

So, if you just happen to find yourself having to visit the old Wollongong then you really can't go past staying here!

Unique Quality: The fact that you could walk straight across to the beach for a swim won me over, quite apart from the lovely room we had and the good food we enjoyed there.

The price I've put in below is the current price for a room with a balcony and an ocean view. Well, after all if you're going to stay here on the beach you may as well enjoy the ocean view!

Best in town.

Great location to the north of the city, across the road from the beach.
Ask for a beachfront room, the views are beautiful.

Unique Quality: Best hotel in town, pool, beach across the road, good restaurant, excellent coffee shop.
