What kind of accom are you looking for jasmine? You could look at www.domain.com.au and www.rent-a-home.com.au Both have apartments, houses, sharing listed.

Hey Jasmine,

I'm in my final weeks of studying @ Wollongong Uni-there are a few options for accomodation.
www.flatmates.com.au have a search option for accomdation (rental), esp. near universities. I'm pretty sure you dont have to be a local to join the website (since you will become a local anyway ;) ) It's free to register. Other than that, the uni website has links for student accomodation which are associated with the campus: http://www.uow.edu.au/discover/international/ If you have any questions about the uni or wollongong or whatever, feel free to email away! :)

Hi Dominique. My name is Alonso and I am moving to UOW this semester. I was curious about any info you might have regarding the study rithm. Is it fast, slow? Can I take more than 4 courses per semester?
On the other hand, how hard is it to addapt? Is people nice and eager to friendship?
Then again, how "recognised" is it within australia to have a UOW degree?

Travel Tips for Wollongong

First stop Nan Tien Temple

by martin_nl

Today we started our road trip and Wollongong was the first stop. It was the first time for me to drive on the wrong (left) side of the road. It was quite exciting but I was glad to be still alive. It was cool to stop at a place like the Nan Tien Temple, because it was so different. It was like being in China or something!!

Inside the National Park is where the true beauty lies, many beautiful cabbage palms and ferns + Eucalypt plants, make the many forest tracks a job!
Watch out for blood sucking leeches though! YUK!

Surfing at The Farm

by SailorRoar

The Farm is a great beach for surfing, it is located just south of Wollongong, near Bass Point. You have to have a car to get here, and there is a short 5 minutes walk from the parking lot to the beach, but totally worth it! It is a sand bottom beach with rocks on the sides, a great place for beginners and experienced surfers. You will need board of course, Wollongong has plenty of board shops, and even a few local shapers. You can get new or used boards in most of them.

The view is truly sublime!

by swings

The Sublime Point Lookout, a short drive off the Princes Highway at Bulli Tops, NSW has spectacular views all up and down the Southern Highlands Coast. This is the view of Austinmer, in front of the Point.

The water was so calm and so clear, I was convinced that we could see migrating whales. Alas... none were seen. But maybe in the fall when the whales migrate north and pass closer to the coast.... Bring your binoculars!

This is a smallish restaurant with fantastic service. Very cosy and inviting. You take your shoes off and sit on cushions on the floor to eat. They have long tables for larger groups of people. Lighting is dim, and music sets a nice ambience. Cant fault this place. You can also get take away. I am a self confessed sushi addict, so I can't go past the sushi.
