The wedding was held at this destination and I will write about that in another tip. Our friends just love this destination (obviously that is where they got married) but we were not overly impressed. The Villa room was spacious and self contained. Had a great screened verandah (lots of mozzies and sandflies here). Some of the negatives included the fact that although we said we would be arriving late the reception was shut, late box unable to be opened (not that we had been told we would have to use it) and we were just lucky that the onsite restaurant still had a few workers closing up as the phone was ringing out. Not an ideal introduction after nearly 4.5 hours on the road. Beds were also hard as rocks and the Villas so close together we could hear noise all day and night. I was probably most disappointed that despite being at the beach we did not have a sea view as Angourie was a couple of kms inland.
Unique Quality: There is a cute pond area near the restaurant and there are pools, ones that would appeal to kids with a little slide and tennis courts along with a short 'rainforest' walk.

yamba's best retreat
we had a fantastic time at the angourie rainforest retreat.. not much of a rainforest, the apartments were 2 storey. we stayed in a 1 bedroom villa/apartment, it was cosy, very high ceilings, which had a window which let in early morning sun... not fun when we wanted a relaxing holiday with 'sleep in's'. had a lovely big 2 person spa, which is always very relaxing..
the resort was well layed out. free breakfast every morning was ok, not many people staying there, so not much to choose from and left out for a long time to go dry and old, but not too bad. they had a good bar area, fairly priced drinks. Great tennis court, which we used a few times... lovely pool area, but it was cold when we were there, so didnt get to test it out...
