Do you do short scenic flights out over the reef?

Yes Airlie Beach QLD have scenic flights that depart from the small airstrip or from Proserpine.
Go into the Airlie Beach site and you will find tours that do this,they also
do helecopter flights over the reef and islands.
It is a wonderful place--I will be there next month for the VT meet down under

South Molle Island
South Molle Island is a very popular resort for families... It has a great pool, golf course, tennis courts, many hiking tracks, water sports, shops, bar & restaurants etc. It woud be my pick of those I saw if we went to a resort at the Whitsundays...
Whitsunday Sailing Club - Airlie Beach
Situated at the end of the beach the Sailing Club was closed when we visited mid morning. It has a magnificent outlook with all the yachts moored in front of the Clubhouse. There was a nice area on the waterside where one could spend an hour late afternoon, beer in hand and superb view over the water.

Airlie Beach is the gateway to the Whitsunday Islands. It doesn't really have any great beaches, but it's a backpackers party place (name a city on the east coast that is't) and some boaties come here to.
