Not really a backpackers :-)

I stayed in one of the backpacker dorms and my tip applies to that, but they also have twin and double cabins, cabins for families and more, just check out the website!

This resort is called "Bush Village Backpackers" and when staying in one of the backpacker cabins, it is of course like a hostel, as you sleep in a room with three other people. But apart from that, it did not feel like a hostel at all.

The Village consists of a large area with many small cabins, every cabin is a dorm in itself with its own kitchen and bathroom, and its own small front garden with benches and a table and also a hammock. It was so lovely and such a treat after sleeping in "real" backpacker hostels, with huge and crowded dorms and bathrooms used by thousands of people (not complaining, just a fact!) This felt like a real holiday and sharing a bungalow with friends. Moreover, the breakfasts in the morning were so delicious. Usually, in a hostel there is no breakfast at all, or if there is one, it consists of cereal with milk and toast with jam. Here, you got many different spreads and also a lot of fresh fruit (oranges, apples, bananas...) which was like heaven! As I said: You feel that it is a resort and not a backpackers. Everything looks so nice and beautiful, clean and pleasant.
Moreover, the owners were really nice and helped me book my tour even if it was a lot of trouble because I had changed my plans and now was really late. It was peak season, but after doing a lot of phone calls, they managed to get me on a boat and I was very greatful. The whole atmosphere was very friendly and positive.

I enjoyed staying here very much and recommend it to everybody! For people backpacking it is a little more expensive than a usual hostel, but it's worth it.

The only thing is that it is not directly at the town centre, but I found it great to stay away from the party places. Here, we could sit outside and listen to the birds and the sound of the nature surrounding us. It is quiet a walk from the town centre to the hostel, but I really liked that walk and described it in my Things To Do tip.

Unique Quality: As explained: Almost everything!

Airlie Beach's Flashpackers Bush Village

Bush Village has been family owned and operated for the past 14 years running, the owners son Chris is only 32 years of age and now operated this resort. He is fresh and has masive ideas for this property. They are constaintly renovating and working on creating the best backpackers in Australia.

Unique Quality: Staff take pride in eye for detail, they know every guest by their name, quiet and clean and you get a good night sleep, local knowledge is second to none. They will make sure you get the best holiday out of the Whitsundays
