VTer's Snorkle & Scuba Dive at Knuckle Reef
by cnango
Our first all day adventure for the Aussie VT Meet 2009 was taking the day cruise to Knuckle Reef lagoon. The Cruise Whitsunday crew gave snorkel or scuba diving lessons on the main boat. After the lessons the participating VTer's boarded a tender which took them to a big pontoon located in the Knuckle Reef lagoon and a large protected area that was surrounded by nets to keep sharks out. The pontoon also featured places to sit, sun, showers & changing rooms, a big slide and the largest underwater viewing chamber in the Great Barrier Reef. I decided to not get wet and enjoy the view from the the glass bottom boat. The rest of the time I just relaxed and visited with other VTer's. For a short time so as not to get a sunburn I laid out briefly on a lounge chair to " work a bit on my tan". As you can see by the pictures some VTers had a fantastic time swimming, sliding ,snorkeling and scuba diving. Everyone no matter what activities they chose to do or not to do enjoyed the beauty of Knuckle Reef and the relaxing and scenic cruise to get there and back.
Anaconda III
by lou31
In June this year I had the opportunity to spend 3 days aboard this luxury yacht. It was a magical experience and my memories will stay with me forever. Everything, from the meals to the facilities and the crew were top rate.
The Anaconda III is a 101 foot mega yacht and one of the biggest vessels cruising the Whitsundays. It can carry up to 32 passengers. All cabins on board are air conditioned and each has its own ensuite with hot showers. It has a large air conditioned dining room and saloon area with a modern flat screened TV. The spacious decks give you plenty of room to move around or for sunbaking.
All meals are cooked on board and include breakfast, lunch and dinner plus morning and afternoon teas. A well stocked bar is open with reasonable prices. Beers...$4.50, glass of wine $3.50 and bottles of water and softdrink $2.50.
The 3 day/3 night trip makes for a leisurely voyage. No rushing from place to place and Whitehaven is visited on each trip. Weather permitting you will also get out to the reef for an overnight stay.
Snorkeling and scuba diving activities are also offered and the yacht has two diving instructors and carries all diving gear. Snorkeling is free as is the use of the equipment. An introductory scuba dive will cost about $65.
Cruising on this yacht is truly a fantastic experience. At one point coming in from the reef we hit bad weather and rough conditions. I felt completely safe knowing our experienced Skipper Baz would see us home safely...and sure enough he did!
The crew are marvellous...fun, happy and very friendly...they will do everything to make your trip a great one....
Harborviews from the glass bottom boat

After a long and wonderful sailing trip at sea we arrived at this scenic harbor. We looked at beautiful reef and colorful fish through the window of the glass bottom boat. See the following tip, entitled "Underwater views at Knuckle Reef" for more pictures.
My First VT Meet Was at Airlie Beach
by wise23girl
"Look Who Came with Me"
"I'll come with you" offered my grandson when he heard I was going alone to the "Big Aussi Meet". And next thing VT had a brand new member and here we are.
We got got caught on "the hop" so you may not see them very well but with us are Dao who Ti.... took on board as his VA and mine, Diosh and Canuck68.
Such a lovely day to visit Knuckle Reef right out there away from it all where you could dive, snorkle, swim, go down the water slide, and enjoy the company of the other VTers .
"Tim (Zzeone)to the Rescue."
Well first he had to rescue his wedding ring which was on its way down, down, down, into the ocean deep.
Then he rescued VA PJ for Betska (I think) ...no Betska wasn't nearly lost at sea it was the silly VA who got into trouble .
And T....'s own VA Dao might well have drowned if the seal had taken in water as he snorkled with Tim at Knuckle Reef.
"Who Leads Who Astray."
Well we have a photo of us enjoying cocktails and another with Travel Slut in her costume and then there is Hansi dancing with our VA'S
So here we are with mocktails. Our VAS are on the table with real cocktails...no decorum there.
So will make a VT album on my home page. And now thanks to Lori Pori I will do a travelogue here.
