Wonderful

This is the nicest resort we have stayed in (and we have stayed in quite a few). It is in a great location and at the bottom of a steep street and just a couple of minutes walking distance into town and the beaches which is a big plus for me. The accomdation was very clean and spacious and had everything in it you would need for a holiday. The views from the balcony were breath taking ( I gather all rooms have balconies and beautiful views). The staff were absolutely great and very knowledgeable about things to do and see. The resort has 3 pools not big but great for lazying around in and great sun bathing area very clean and well maintained. There are a lot of eating places in town and a lovely restaurant at the resort. I would highly recommend this resort to everyone going to Airlie Beach / Whitsundays and also recommend the trip to the Great Barrier Reef, it was just wonderful and also trips to Hamilton Island and Day Dream Island. Thank you Waters Edge Resort we had a wonderful time.
Very happy stay, but cleaning woudl be a bonus!

Our party of two adults and two kids (11 and 15) enjoyed our seven nights in a very spacious and well equipped apartment at Waters Edge very much. There were many things we loved, a few we thought could be improved on, and just a few we weren't entirely happy about. Overall, though, we felt we made the right choice and certainly recommend Water Edge.
Things we loved:
*The spaciousness of the apartment - room for everyone - with good furnishings and layout
*A great view
*The staff were very helpful and it was great to be able to make bookings for activities from the accommodation
*An ideal location close to the Airlie beach township - this is a VERY hilly place and we would not have wanted to walk any further up the hill than this! Be aware that some accommodation is a long, long way up.
*The generous balcony which provided an extra eating area as a bonus
*Two bathrooms (essential when travelling with kids) and walk in robes
*The pools were clean and well maintained and the poolside area was lovely. Although they were only small in size, it was great to have 3 pools and you generally could get a whole pool to yourself.
*Well equipped kitchen with enough equipment and accessories to cook a proper meal (ie: not just 2 pots and 4 sets of crockery) and fantastic storage (eg full sized pantry)
*Well equipped laundry with full sized tub and dryer
*Air conditioning in each bedroom and living area
*The general look and feel of the place was great - nice tile surfaces, garden and decor
*The beds were comfortable
*TV with a DVD player
*Lots of car parking undercover
Things we thought could have been a little better:
*The temperature of the pools was very refreshing , but it would have been great to have one warmer pool out of the three (probably the kids pool)
*The restaurant downstairs seemed to be popular and was certainly very attractive, but we just could not face a menu that included chicken stuffed with a possum farce (!?!), as well as some other incredibly complex and overly fussed sounding concoctions. We decided to eat at the excellent restaurant at the Coral Sea Resort instead (highly recommended).
*The bathrooms and some of the decor are starting to look a little tired
*The lift has a mind of its own...
The few things we didn't like:
*One small bath towel each really isn't enough. At this standard two towels per person should be provided.
*Weddings, weddings, weddings: if you stay in wedding season be aware that the restaurant is often used for private functions (for which it makes a very beautiful setting). While there is a music curfew at about 10pm, be prepared to hear the shrill squeals of drunk bridesmaids into the early hours of the morning...
*A spa without heating is not a spa, it is a bubbly pool. The spa is cold!
*The gym was smelly
*Most of all, and the thing that impacted on us most, was that while we understood that regular servicing of the room was not included in the room rate, we expected to be able to pay extra for a full clean during our stay. This option was not available. We paid $55 for a new set of towels and a change of bed linen midway through (you get this midstay at no extra charge only if you stay 8 nights). They would not do the floors or bathrooms. This was a problem because a) there wasn't the equipment to do a proper clean ourselves (eg vacuum cleaner or cleaning materials) and b) we didn't want to, we were happy to pay! After seven nights, with four people traipsing in from beaches etc, the place was simply grubby. This was the ONE thing that I would really suggest be considered for review - a full clean option!
Again, to emphasise that we were really happy with our location and the facility, and do recommend Waters Edge for your stay in Airlie beach!
Loved it. Best place to stay in Whitsundays. Beautiful location. Friendly staff!

I stayed 7 nights in a two bedroom apartment at Waters Edge, along with my boyfriend and another couple. We are young twenty somethings and found the apartments to be just what we needed, they would be equally situatable for couples with young children- which there were a few of, and older couples.
Waters Edge is situated 100 m up the hill, which means the pools all have a fantastic breeze, while being very close to the main road. Waters Edge is walking distance to everything, including the Able Point Marina, meaning we did not take a Taxi anywhere.
The apartment has everything you can think of and are clean, spacious, bright and nicely decorated.
The bedrooms have air conditioning (which is needed) as well as the living room.
The best thing about our apartment was the pool access off our large balcony, meaning we could run down for a swim whenever we wanted.
Waters Edge is owned and managed by the same people which means the service is spectacular. Rayleen was very helpful with airport transfers and booking tours.
The only negative thing about the apartment was that the backdoors could only be locked from inside, meaning you had to leave the apartment through the front door, and take the lift and walk around to the front of the apartments.
The adjoining, privately owned resurant has a fanatastic Sunday lunch special. 7 courses over 4 hours, with music by the pool!
Best Holiday EVER!

My family and I stayed in The Penthouse at this resort, 3 large bedrooms and a private spa out on the balcony - it was the best ever holiday - we have two teenage children, boy (15) and girl (17). The kids could just go down to the lagoon together, shopping & just walking around, leaving my husband and I to have a few drinks down at any of the great bars along the main street.
The hospitality of the staff was oustanding, helping us out with various information we needed and booking cruises which we took.
We were going to Adelaide this December for our Christmas Holiday, but, that has now been cancelled and we are going back to Water's Edge Resort for another 7 days and will do a couple of nights out on one of the many islands.
Hmmm... not great

My husband and I have just spent 7 days staying at the Watersedge Apartment. The experience as a whole was okay or average at best. The property itself is reasonably well maintained and the apartments spacious. The key reason we are rating our experience with Watersedge as average is because we found the service to be quite poor. I dont think we are being overly picky, we were expecting '4 star' service especially when the accomodation is listed as being '4 stars'
eg.
1) It's the wet season in QLD at the moment for goodness sake! - get enough umbrellas for guests to use to get around town, one per apartment at a minimum. Only a handful were available for loan from the reception desk (when it was OPEN!). On the occasion which we did manage to get our hands on a brolly, we were accused of not returning it!!
2) Reception desk hours - on Sat and Sundays the desk closes at around lunch time... tough luck if you needed anything.
3) Lack of secure storage for luggage - as per the norm in most establishments, check out time is 10am. Our flight wasnt until the afternoon, when asked if we could store our luggage onsite while we waited for our airport transfers we were asked to stow it under the stairs/next to the vending machine (in plain sight and no security) in the reception area. This was a Saturday arvo which meant that there was no one in reception (as it was closed) to cast a vigilant eye over our items. I mention this because we had purchase $2000 worth of paintings and were not prepared to lug it around town. Get a store room please!!
4) Booking of tours and transfers - our airport transfer requests were lost even though we clearly stated we needed RETURN transfers on our reservation request. No apology was offered... merely a ' we are a bit busy/there is a lot going on..' as a reply. When asked whether they could book the return transfer on our behalf, I was merely given the number to ring the transfer company ourselves, even though the sign at reception stated that they could arrange this at no extra cost!
AND lastly... the food at the restaurant onsite is appalling.
