I recently stayed 2 nights at Oaks 212 Margaret Street. When I first checked in, I thought it looked nice, and like the photos online, and the location was good. When I'm on an extended, multi-city trip, I like booking into more "apartment style" accomodations so that I don't have to go out for every meal, and in this case was really pleased to have a washer/dryer to catch up on almost 2 weeks of laundry. However...it wasn't long before the "bugs" - roaches - started coming out - and I was on the 18th floor, and had NO food in the room yet (nor did I ever bring it in as I completely lost my appetite for dining in-room). At one point, there were 4 running through the kitchen area! As I couldn't kill all of them, I slept horribly - basically, not at all the second night - and kept the lights on to hopefully "scare" them away. The thought of multiple roaches in the kitchen/room was disgusting! I know there are few "perfect" hotel rooms, but I travel a lot, all over the world, and have never encountered this in a reportedly "nice" city hotel - and paid over $300 for the "priveledge." What made it worse, was upon checking out, no one asked how my stay was, and when I told them about the roaches, their attitude was basically "oh well." I had read that there might be construction noise in other traveller's reviews, which I didn't experience, but I would have taken that any day over roaches! I will never stay here again - it was the worst hotel experience of my life!
Unique Quality: Roaches and obvious lack of extermination.
