 | Brisbane Reviews | Tips 11 - 20 of 114 | | We had 2 nights in a deluxe room on the 6th floor, very nicely furnished, recently refurbished with plenty of space, included was a good sized coffee table and 2 very comfortable chairs, refrigerator, kettle etc etc. Our room was on the top floor and had a view over the beautiful Roma Street parklands. Buffet breakfast was included, the restaurant had a nice alfresco area overlooking the outdoor pool. There is a small laundry available for guest use, and undercover security parking available at Au $7.50 per day. Deluxe room tariff Au $185 per night. We enjoyed our stay and would return again. The hotel also has an older section where renovations had just commenced when we visited the first week of September, 2006.

In Surfers Paradise- the Diamond Beach Resort in Broadbeach- had it all, pools, spa, waterfall, deluxe rooms with many balconies, 24 hour office with ticket counter for the theme parks- well priced and not as expensive as it looked like it would be! In Caloundra- the Rydges Oasis Resort, also very flash and lovely apartments. Only problem- make sure you arent allocated a room that has a interconnecting door to another apartment. We were given one and the walls were so thin that the man snoring on the other side of the wall drove us out into the lounge! In Brisbane- the Newstead Gardens Motel- budget priced,1 roomed accomodation, that included breakfast and a lovely friendly host Bernie. between AUD $70 in Brisbane- $130 in Caloundra per room per night- both with breakfast

 | | | | Spring Hill Terraces: Excellent value rooms at Spring Hill
Tip Rating: Satisfaction: | | | | |
I stayed at Spring Hill Terraces for 4 nights in late April 2006. I paid 65 AUD (approx. 25 GBP) per night for a "budget single" room, and this proved to be excellent value for money. Being a budget room, I shared a bathroom with 3 other rooms. Rooms with en-suite facilities are available for a higher price. Location: Spring Hill Terraces is located in the beautiful (but rather hilly!) area of Spring Hill, a short walk to the north-west of Brisbane city centre. It is approximately 20-25 minutes walking distance from the CBD and the river, 15 minutes from the central train station and 10-15 minutes from Chinatown and the nightlife of Fortitude valley. It is by no means centrally located, but the walk into the city centre is pleasant. Room: My spotlessly clean "budget single" room contained the following amenities: - a comfortable double bed; - a large wardrobe; - a fridge/freezer; - a sink; - tea and coffee making facilities (kettle, tea bags, coffee sachets, sugar, milk, complimentary biscuits and hot chocolate sachets); - cable TV (2 movie channels, 2 sports channels, Discovery Channel, National Geographic Channel and all free-to-air channels) and a complimentary TV guide detailing the month's viewing; - desk with two chairs; - bedside shelves; - radio alarm clock. Maid service was carried out daily and clean towels were provided every day. The coffee and tea supplies were also replenished each day (apart from the milk, which I had to purchase myself after the initial carton had been used). The bathroom facilities were shared between 4 rooms. These consisted of a spotlessly clean shower and toilet with locks on the cubicles. I never had any problems with the facilities being busy during my stay.
. Hotel facilities and staff: The hotel's staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The reception area contains all the information (excursion brochures, free city maps, restaurant guides etc) that you could ever need. Internet access is available on one computer terminal in reception for a cost, as are fax and photocopying services. A laundry service is also offered for an additional charge. The hotel's staff will arrange transport to the airport for a small charge. There is a swimming pool and a BBQ area within the grounds of the property, although I never saw or used either of them. The main front gate of the property closes at 9pm each night. After this time, you need to use a sensor attached to your room key to enter the property and then to enter the building. Breakfast: You can have breakfast delivered to your room between 7am and 8am if you provide the reception desk with your order before 8pm the previous night. I never used this service, but noted the following items from the menu in my room: - fruit juices (2 AUD); - yoghurt (2 AUD); - fruit salad (2 AUD); - cereals (2 AUD); - fillet steak, eggs and tomato (10 AUD); - bacon, eggs and tomato (8 AUD); - various combinations of eggs, sausage, bacon, tomatoes and mushrooms (8 AUD); - baked beans on toast (5 AUD); - 2 slices of toast with honey or jam (2 AUD); - croissants (4 AUD). Excellent value, comfortable rooms owned by extremely friendly people. Located in the pleasant Spring Hill area of the city and well worth the 25 minute walk into the city centre! Highly recommended!! | | | | Marriott Brisbane: Brisbane Marriott
Tip Rating: Satisfaction: | | | | |
The Brisbane Marriott is, well, just another Marriott. I used to swear by Mariotts (and I was using Marriott Rewards points to stay for a weekend), but I was disappointed. Had I been paying several hundred dollars, I would wonder exactly where the money was going, to be honest. It's certainly 5-star opulence, but the room could have been anywhere, the service was standard. There seemed to be nothing special, nothing unique. The staff were friendly, everything worked, the room had everything I needed, the bed was comfortable, but everything just seemed 'expensive' rather than 'value'. In my opinion, you can get the same service, friendly staff, and room facilities for $100 a night less expenditure. There is absolutely nothing to complain about with the Brisbane Marriott, but you can get the same for a whole lot less.

We once stayed at The Gordon Inn, found it to be very comfortable, and easy on the pocket.--- Also the Ascot Budget Inn. This is going back a few years, so my info may not be up to date. Hostels are also a great option, and there are many, some within walking distance of the Brisbane Transit center, in Roma St. Prices are good....And very convenient... One place I would not recommend, is the 'Formula 1' , Although it is very close to the Airport, there were no coffee/tea making facilities in your room... (not good) and my double room was so tiny, I almost couldn't fit my luggage in... Price.. $49AUD The Gordon was $45aust. when we stayed there. Not sure about current prices. The Ascot, is from $61 aud.
The Hostels I believe, have a pool, haven't stayed there myself. Leave a Comment Theme: MotelComparison: about averageDirections: The Gordon Inn... The Ascot...143 Nudgee Road, Ascot, Brisbane,4007. Telephone:07-32682823

The Stamford Plaza (previously called The Heritage) is where all the "superstars" usually stay when they visit Brisbane. You can certainly see why the stars stay here when you take a look at the rooms and the other beautiful areas like the lobby and pool. Three restaurants to choose from at the hotel are Siggi's, The Brasserie On The River and the Japanese Kabuki restaurant. Alternatively, you could have breakfast served in your room as you admire the spectacular view. The bars include Siggi's wine Bar, The Lobby Lounge and The Pavillion Bar/Courtyard. The Botanic Gardens are ideally located adjacent to the hotel, where you can visit the City Gardens Cafe for lunch. Other site-seeing attractions include the Brisbane River, City Hall, the eternal flame of the Anzac Memorial and many other things to see and do.
Probably the best hotel in Brisbane with anything you need. Leave a Comment
