Excellent value

Recommend the Novotel in Brisbane for those who seek excellent service, clean comfortable good sized rooms with high speed
internet, and quiet. Room service was most responsive ever experienced and the hotel restaurant was excellent. Staff were most helpful with questions about Brisbane and service. Up the hill from Queen street mall and close to Central Station, and a short walk to Fortitude Valley. Highly recommend the Novotel.

More about Novotel Brisbane

Excellent Service

by TripAdvisor Member SusanGoldCoast

This was our second stay at the Novotel Brisbane. I cannot fault the staff and there level of expertise. The rooms are clean, bright and neat. We were upgraded and sent a bottle of wine and chocolates after they had discovered it was our wedding anniversary.

It is largely a business hotel but still good for travelers, I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to anyone wanting a stay in Brisbane, even think it might outdoor it's big brother Sofitel across the road the new decor over there is enough to make one rather ill.

Congratulations Novotel, keep up the good work.

Great overnight stay

by TripAdvisor Member Chazwazza

Everything was lovely about the Novotel - great look, check was simple and easy, wonderfully large room and huge bathroom (bigger than my own at home!!) and the breakfast was the best I think I have seen in a long time.
I got a good deal on wotif.com, surprisingly better than on their own website, with breakfast included, late checkout and carparking including. Not sure what these all would have cost separately, but definately great included in the package.
The only downside was the fact that I was woken at 6:45am with the very very noisy site workers on the next building. It really was ridiculous. This is the only fault with the hotel, though, otherwise I think I would have given it top marks.
Also a lot of reviews have said that it is hard to find... I concur. It took us quite a while to find it and a phone call to the hotel itself to get there. The mistake that we made was that Creek St comes to a Y intersection. Instead of staying right, we turned left into Ann St and got totally lost. If you stay right you will have no problems.
Overall a wonderful stay, much better than we had at the Gold Coast hotel we stayed at the next night (another story!).
Definitely will be returning to the Novotel Brisbane!!

Not a good Novotel

by TripAdvisor Member MimTraveller

I stayed in this hotel for a work conference end of July/start of August.
On check in everything looks good and the lobby is quite nice. Then you get out of the elevator and it is very old looking. The rooms were pretty good, modern looking but basic which was also fine. What was not fine was that my bath was full of hair, there was hair on the bathroom floor and guess what was in my bed when i pulled down the covers - hair. The towels were also dirty.
I thought it was just my room but another colleague experienced the same thing in his room.
We rang reception at 11pm which is when we got in and of course they couldn't send up a cleaner as it was too late. They did send the concierge up to make a new bed and whilst he was extremely nice and professional, he was very young and I doubt he had ever made a bed in his life so I had to make it.
Room service breakfast came without milk for coffee. We had to ask for it twice in which time the coffee was cold. Asked for water which also didn't arrive.
Overrall, the service was ok, nothing extraordinary but ok. But I will never stay there again due to the room obviously being not cleaned properly.
The location is pretty good. It took me about 7 minutes to walk into the city mall.
Didn't try dinner there as the breakfast had put me off.
I did try dinner at the nearby Sofitel and that hotel looked a lot better.

Perfect for new travellers to Brisbane

by TripAdvisor Member Crags

Visited 1 night as part of 2 night trip. Took Airtrain from Brisbane International to Central Station- hotel is less than 5 minutes walk from train station. Checked in before 2pm, clean comfortable refurbished room with 2 comfy queen beds. Good sized bathroom and showerhead. View of city and clocktower. 3 lifts make for no real delays waiting for lifts. Fast checkin, great staff. In heart of Brisbane. Not too many restaurants around hotel, predominantely at Southgate. The hotel has a restaurant that was packed for both tea (saw on way out) and good buffet breakfast in the morning. Funky little bar great atmosphere for a relaxed evening drink. Fast checkout, go at your own pace uninteruppted style hotel. Will return.

Smoking rooms NEEDED

by TripAdvisor Member duderator

They only have ONE floor for smoking. I met 6 other people staying at this hotel, outside smoking. We were all disappointed that they didn't have enough rooms for smokers. I will not stay again.
Breakfst was VERY expensive $22.00- $26.00. That's crazy!

Impressed with the Novotel

by TripAdvisor Member jnnhd

Great location close to the city, though a little tricky to find which path to use.
Very clean and comfortable, with spacious rooms and separate sitting area.
Staff all extremely professional, friendly and informative.

Only negative was the breakfast. Although there was a wide variety at the buffet, the hot food could have been better, eg the only eggs were some milky scrambled concoction, and the bacon was undercooked.

OK But Not Special

by TripAdvisor Member GoldCoastTezza

The room was fine. Clean, tidy and well maintained. The restaurant in my opinion was overrated and overpriced with the meal being average but not spectacular for the price charged.

I think this hotel is more directed at the corporate side of town and the pricing in the restaurant and bars reflects this.

10 minute walk to the city mall or 15 minute walk to China town in the other direction. However, not being on the river or near Southbank a minus.

There is a major construction site next to the hotel which makes it very difficult to have a sleep-in when the builders outside your window start machinery up at 7.00am. If staying here again I would insist on a room on the opposite side of the construction site.

I would give this hotel a 3.5 star rating
