Car rental in Brissie

by Victoria114

Hello, we are planning a 3 week holiday to Brisbane in August and we would like to rent a car (preferably with child seats). Which car rental company would you recommend? I heard Hertw has the child seat option and if you have a special code, you may get discounts, too. Where do you get this code? Any advice is appreciated. Thank you.

FREE CHILD SEAT
I do not know anything about the car hire firms in Brisbane as I live in Sydney but I simply typed car rentals brisbane child car seat into Google and got pages of sites for car rental companies in Brisbane .
Most offer child seat options for an additional cost and I saw this one which offered free child seat included in price
so maybe have a look at it it was it says details for 2008 but they have an email address
E-mail: info@davescarrental.com.au and website I would maybe email and ask them and also ask on Brisbane forum if any one knows if the compnay is any good as its hard to tell from internet alone
Someone may have used them before .

Travel Tips for Brisbane

I would totally advise to come in the Spring time (our spring time that is). For starters the weather is absolutely beautiful. Also... you can see the jacarandas. This might be my personal bias here... but they really do look gorgeous... I always think of them as an Australian sakura (cherry blossom). Best place to see them (I think) is at the University of Queensland grounds, or New Farm Park. But... the time that they bloom kinda depends on the weather that year... as a Japanese friend of mine found out the hard way this year! I've been living here most of my life, but haveN't really seen that much. I would recommend though taking a trip up to Mt Cootha. From the lookout you can see all of Brisbane... and it looks really nice. Best time to come, if you've got the time, is just before sunset. So you can sit and watch the sun set and then have a coffee while the stars come up! If you're going by bus... make sure you check the timetable though. Some Japanese friends of mine missed the bus after hitchhiking the way up (not advisable by the way) and were forced to walk all the way back to toowong... trust me... CHECK THE TIMETABLE!!

Like I said they have (among other animals!) Polar Bears at SEA WORLD. Yours truely finds Polar Bears fascinating so watched them for quite a while. At certain times they have not so much a show, but, they have videos showing the bears' trip to Sea World and info about Polar bears and they talk about them. There are at least two viewing levels. I really like polar bears and it was lovely to see them at SEA WORLD!! They claim that their environment is like the polar bear's natural environment. I hope they have enough space for what they (the polar bears) need. We didn't get to see them swim though, which would have been interesting...

SEND YOUR BAGGAGE UNACCOMPANIED!

by balhannah

If you are travelling on from Brisbane you can send your luggage ahead as unaccompanied baggage. This can be done from the International terminal, Level 4 by taking your luggage to the Qantas unaccompanied baggage counter where they will send your goods on ahead for you.
They can be contacted on 1300 368 747 or 1300 368 747 to determine the cost involved.

Admire a Sunset on the Oceanside

by Tripack

As everybody knows Brisbane is on the East coast of Australia. As the Sunshine rises always from the East (ocean side), Sunset will be about the West... How to admire a Sunset in the Ocean around Queensland?

You will need to be really far away off the beaten path to get the possibility to enjoy one.
Multiple choice: get a boat and head straight to the East far enough from the coast to enjoy a Sunset... as I did aside some scuba diving on the Great Barrier Reef. But still not beach... so look also for an Island to find your happiness... easy to find just head to the North Queensland ;-)

An unforgettable moment repeated each evening DownUnder...

Lamington National Park...

by CandS

Visit the Lamington National Park...there's some beautiful scenery and great wildlife out there...

The Lamington National Park is south-west of Brisbane and can be done as a day trip. It's best if you hire/have a car to drive yourself around...
