Brisbane Marriot or Rydges South Bank Hotel ?
On our way to New Zealand, we will stop by and tour Brisbane with my wife & my 2 kids, 6 & 9 years old around April 2003 and will stay 3 nights. We are choosing between Brisbane Marriot Hotel or Rydges South Bank Hotel. Any suggestions or comments? I prefer to stay in newer or newly built hotels. Any suggestions ? Or perhaps any other hotel suggestions?

Hi. Not sure if it is still called it, but I stayed in The Brisbane Travelodge back in 1988. It was New At the time and real nice. It was conected to A Mall if I remember and I even was able to catch the Bus without going outside. It was in Real nice area. I think I have a Photo of it on My Brisbane Page. Randall.

I now live in the US but Brisbane is my hometown.
I think Rydges South Bank might be the better choice, especially as you have young children. It is located at the South Bank Parklands where there is lots of things to enjoy including playgrounds and a salt water lagoon. The Marriot, while very nice, is situated in the City (at the far end) with little around it.

Hey Randall, back then I worked for the hotel company that ran Travelodge. Brisbane was a great hotel, good location and high standard. I had many happy stays there!

Hi Colin. It was a Beauty. Close to everything and If I remember. There was a talking Elevator(Lift) There. Most all Hotels I stayed in in Australia were New. A quick walk to the 1988 Expo. Randall.

That's right Randall, an elevator with an American accent! And a very good jazz&blues club on the ground floor.
