INDULGE YOURSELF...ITS THE BEST

Oh Tabcorp have done away with the old"Conrad" now. And now Echo have done away with Tabcorp (July 2011)

We just love staying here but I have to confess that as members of Treasury Casino we do get a special rate but you will have guessed that.. ..well we did there are new rules now...nothing is forever it seems.

The rooms are unique. Well I think so. I have not been in every one but I understand they are all different. But everything that you could want is there. And there is room service as good as anywhere else in the world that we have been.

Just read the information book. You will be amazed.

Unique Quality: Well you do get great views in most rooms but of course not all are of the river. No there is not a swimming pool but who wants to swim...you have the city to explore and you are right on the doorstep.
At the George Street exit you will find an old lift ...not in service though. This is of course a heritage building. Very interesting if you like antique lifts.

And this is the location of an excellent restaurant open for breakfast and dinner. The Lab Bar. There is a buffet option now. And if you do not believe me about how good the food is see Pedroswifts write up. Many of these names have historical significance too.

Now if you feel like a "bit of a flutter" there is an underground corridor to the Casino so you do not have to go out into the street. How exciting. And on the Casino side there more places to eat especially Marco Polo and Cafe 21 as well as some buffet places on the basement floor..

Just to confuse you there is another section of the Hotel on the Casino side where the gamblers like to stay as it is close to the action. Some of the more expensive rooms there have an upstairs and a downstairs. Oh boy!

A little bit of family history: My sister-in-law worked in the Treasury building some 40 years ago and her former office is just near where one can delight in the Sovereign room service reserved for very special people...yes those who spend the most money!

A perfect stay.

Location –
The Conrad is situated in the heart of Brisbane a two minute walk to Queen Street Mall the main shopping/ business area. It’s a short walk across a park to the Casino. It’s approximately 20 minutes from the domestic and international airports.

Check in-
All staff members were fantastic and showed a high level of efficiency. Our car was also parked for us and we were in our room within 5 minutes.

Room –
Our room 124 an executive suite was beautifully decorated and enormous, with stunning tall ceilings and high glass windows (locked). A lounge suite, working desk, mini bar, TV cabinet, CD player and a lovely king size bed.

It was my husband’s birthday and he was given a lovely platter of cheese and fruit and a “Happy Birthday” card which we thought to be extremely sweet. The only negative, we couldn’t open the windows to get to the large balcony attached to the room.

Bathroom –
The bathroom was very spacious and luxurious, with a separate bath tub and walk-in shower. Fluffy towels and bathrobes were also supplied.

Room Service – Fast and efficient.

Restaurants – We had dinner at the Casino in the Marco Polo Restaurant which we found to offer an excellent menu and wine list. The food was also of the highest quality. There are numerous other bars and restaurants located in the hotel and within the casino.

Breakfast – The breakfast room was located on the lobby floor in the Lab Bar, and offered an a la carte menu (no buffet) which we do prefer. However, the service was fabulous and the breakfast terrific.

Business Centre- there is a small office on the ground floor next door to the reception which offered internet service with a printer attached.

Unique Quality: Overall –

We had a lovely stay at Conrad’s and my husband enjoyed his birthday surprise, especially being able to play blackjack next door at the casino. I highly recommend this hotel if looking for 5 star accommodation and service in the heart of Brisbane.

Negative – none except there is no swimming pool which I particularly like to have especially in the summer months.

Two Days in Brisbane

The Conrad Treasury Hotel and Casino (across the street) were top-notch. My teenager was impressed by the fabulous restoration of these two historic buildings. Our room was adequately sized and well-appointed, with grand windows & ceilings. The bathroom was huge and quite lovely (sparkling marble everywhere). The beds were luxurious, very welcome after our LONG trans-Pacific flight! The architectural details made for interesting "sightseeing." Even if you aren't staying at the hotel, it is worth having a look, just for the history. The hotel has underground parking; as guests, we weren't charged additional. The hotel staff is excellent; very attentive. We dined in their restaurant for breakfast and it was good, although the service there was a bit confusing. They seemed short staffed-perhaps it was the time of day we were there? The casino was interesting to walk through, but we didn't spend much time there. I would highly recommend staying at this hotel. If you are looking for budget-minded accomodations, you probably would not choose this hotel. I managed to get an amazing internet rate, so I loved my stay even more!

Unique Quality: This Hilton luxury hotel is conveniently located in Brisbane's central business district, with easy access to public transportation. We caught the bus to the stadium to see a rugby match, which we thoroughly enjoyed. We ended up walking back to the hotel from the stadium, at night, a good way to see the city from a different view. The hotel is within walking distance of all sorts of shopping, restaurants...and it is right near the Brisbane River, with its nice views. We ate dinner at a nearby cafe where I tried the "Moreton Bay bugs." Grilled, they were quite delicious with a cold Aussie brew! My teenager enjoyed the fresh fish.
