Cairns Central YHA Backpackers Hostel

I'm a backpacker. YHA hostel is my first choice because they're worldwide. When I'm arrived, first surprise is they're just opposit the 'Myer' and shopping mall. And just a minute walk to pier to GBR. Building is cute and inside is clean. Staff team is friendly. I'm feel comfortable to stay here.

Cairns Central YHA is a decent place to stay. Rooms are not too big, but there is enough space to store your luggage and they all have aircon. All the rooms are grouped around the open-air communal area with a small pool. The negative thing about it is, that it might get pretty loud during the night. Kitchen and bathrooms are clean and well maintained. There's a travel desk at the reception where you can arrange all kinds of tours.

The YHA Cairns Central is a decent hostel close to the shopping centre.

The hostel has a great pool in the centre of the complex with 2 spas. The Laundry facilities seem ok for requirements.

Only a block away from some of the better hotels it provides a welcome escape from being on top of the action. Much of Cairns is walking distance anyway and all tours pick up from the hostel so location is great.

If you can pay extra for a private room. This gives you the extra space and privacy for just twice the cost.

Dont even look for another accomodation. Right in the heart of town. Opposite cairns central market. You'll find the facilities to die for. Excellent clean rooms, lovely spa...good tv room and kitchen...and lot of japanese people :).

For me YHA can do no wrong, the hostels are kept very clean, the facilities are outstanding (pool, internet, tv rooms, laundry, etc.) The staff are very friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend this hostel to others! (especially a room that comes with an ensuite - they're great)

Unique Quality: Air conditioning in the rooms - which is needed, and makes for a comfortable nights sleep. The pool and deck chairs create a great atmosphere outside to get to know fellow hosteliers.

It is also right across the road from a shopping centre where you can find anything you want!
