Close to town
Well this was my first hostel in Australia and quite an odd one, it was very cheap, about £17 a night if you booked a week.
The walls were very thin and you got the feeling you were being crammed in a bit, I even slept in a section of their private living room, but they did do everything possible to help you to fit in.Some of the rooms had single beds and some were bunk beds, just luck of the draw.
It was a very friendly place, everyone would socialise in the evening and go out en-mass into Cairns.
It has two lounges, two kitchens, very cheap internet as they forget you're on it and don't turn the connection off from the office.
A bbq area outside and a outside table and chairs too.
A Home Away from Home
I stayed at the Cairns Girls Hostels for 3 nights. It was my best hostelling experience. Dawn (the owner) was just like everyones mom. Everyone there was so nice and it was super clean and quiet.
