- great accommodation, reasonable prices.

I stumbled onto “Inn Cairns” when doing a Google Earth search of Cairns. I needed a place to stay for a few nights and close to the Esplanade for dinner, close to shops and supermarkets and most importantly, close to the Cairns Railway Station and the main reason for our Cairns stay – the Kuranda Scenic Railway. I was also looking for the economy end of the market, BUT with all facilities.

Sounds like tall order, but the “Inn Cairns” met all of the above and much more. The cost in September 2011 was $135 per night and for expensive Cairns that is a very good price.

We got a 2 room apartment with a bedroom with a king bed (converts to twin if required) 2 bedside tables with lamps, clock/radio, wide screen TV, mirrored door double wardrobe and the all important for the tropics – a ceiling fan.

Moving onto the bathroom was toilet, generous sized wash basin with plenty of room on benches. A full sized bath with overhead shower (sadly a shower curtain not a glass panel) and a cupboard that contained a clothes washing machine and an overhead dryer.

Next was the kitchen/living room with a fully equipped kitchen including all cutlery/crockery/glassware and cooking utensils (no dishwasher) and a bar sized fridge that worked very well. Plenty of benches and cupboards

Finally was the lounge/dining area, where there was a round glass table and room for 4, coffee table, wide screen TV/DVD (yes 2 TV’s in the apartment) and a sofa that converted to a bed if required. Plenty of room for a family of 4 or even 2 couples and a balcony overlooking either street or pool – I strongly suggest pool view side as street side can get a bit noisy.

There is a roof top garden that offers a view over Cairns and the water and the nearby mountains as well as a first floor level swimming pool and surrounding decking with tables chairs and shade umbrellas. Free on site under cover and secure at night parking. Buses to the suburbs of Cairns at the door.

Very good deal and to cap it off, a great team of management and staff who do go out of their way to help/assist visitors to Cairns and region. Very well stocked information area with brochures, maps etc.

Two down sides; the area can be a bit rough and noisy at night and I do suggest caution when leaving/returning outside business hours; room WIFI did not work and I wasted connection fees. Taxi cost domestic airport to Inn Cairns was $24.

Photos 2, 3 and 4 are taken from the roof top area of Inn Cairns and note that all floors are serviced by a lift (elevator).

Nice and neat

Apartment style, excellent altnerative to being stuck in a hotel room. One bedroom, lounge, kitchenette, large bathroom which includes washer and dryer. The apartments are small but comfy enough and clean. Reasonably modern, nothing overly fancy but neat, clean and well maintained. If I have a bathroom like home with no evidence of anyone else having used it then I am super happy and this is what it was like. Bed was comfortable too. Managers are great, very friendly and nothing is to much trouble. I had a small problem which was quite trivial and it was just a breeze to communicate this with them and have it rectified by the time we got back. Smaller complex = personalized service when ran by the right people. Apartments are serviced daily with fresh towels and bed making which is quite rare for Australia, normally only Hotels do this.

Unique Quality: Unique designed complex. 6 floors with elevators. Older or disabled people should know the shower is over the bath.
Nice pool area, no spa. Outdoor sitting areas with views on 5th & 6th floors. 1st floor has outdoor pool and deck area.
Central location - gets a bit busy and hectic out the front because the bus stops are all there.

Boutique hotel close to the action with services

This is a decent smaller place close to the action downtown without paying big bucks for a big place. These apartments are 1 BR with a living room (Pull out sofa), large kitchenette, good sized bathroom with a clothes washer/dryer combo and a balcony. The rooms are clean and very well maintained, but not super fancy. All the rooms have Air Conditioning too, though your key activates it so it only works when you are in the room.

It is located in a great area, within short walking distance to lots of restaurants, the casino, the harbour and also the big mall downtown. For convenience, you cannot beat the location at all though there is the inevitable revellers on the street late at night when you go home (from revelling yourself). Not that you hear any street noises from the apartments.

It does not have room service, nor does it have a night desk attendant. The office is open from 7Am until 8PM and your key gets you in after that. It is basic for services, but the staff is really nice.

Unique Quality: For facilities, there is a small pool with with a communal BBQ area that includes a sink and prep counter. there is also a great terrace on the top floor of the hotel that is always deserted and affords a great view of downtown, the harbour and the rainforest hills on the other side.

You cannot beat the location at all. There is secure parking in the hotel, but you do not need a rental car since everything is within walking distance or at the most a short cab-ride away. There is a good variety store across the street for supplies to put in the fridge or if you want to cook a meal in the apartment. The washer/dryer combo is great for longer term travellers. We spent 5 weeks in Australia but less than a week in Cairns, but we did do most of our mid travel laundry while there. Also great for beach towels and swim trunks on a daily basis.

We have stayed here a couple of times and also reccomended it to our friends. Over all, one of the better value VS money for our travels. We reccomend that you ask for an aparment with a pool view, it means that your balcony will not face the street if you want to spend a lot of time there. For the best views of the whole area, walk up to the roof terrace. (or sunbathe there too).

Friendly and Central

Serviced apartments right in the centre of town - nice and clean, big and spacious rooms. You get a bedroom with comfortable big bed, a large and well appointed bathroom and a spacious studio style lounge and kitchen combined. My balcony overlooked the quiet and secluded pool.

Unique Quality: The owners were very friendly, helpful and welcoming - great location, very close to the nightlife, restaurants and cafes and a very pleasant 5 minute stroll to the beach.

Right across the road from the hotel is a very convenient supermarket should you wish to do your own cooking, but there are lots of great little cafes for breakfast, lunch and dinner all just minutes away.
