New resort situated on the beach front at Palm Cove whch is approx 30 min north of Cairns and 30 min south of Pt Douglas. Resort has both hotel style rooms or self contained units that either face the pool area or ocean views at approx $20 per night extra. My tip is to take the ocean view room as it is worth it.
The beach at Palm Cove is magnificent golden sand that goes for miles. The esplanade is filled with other great resorts, Outrigger, Sebel, Novotel and the brand new Sea Temple. These provide plenty of great places to eat that cater for all tastes and budgets.
For golfers there is a nine hole course at the Novotel Resort, but the best is Paradise Palms Golf Course at Clifton Beach which is only five minutes away.
We found Palm Beach to be the ideal spot to base ourselves so that we could explore Far North Queensland including Cairns, Pt Douglas, The Daintree, Karunda, Barron Falls and the Atherton Tablelands.
Unique Quality: Best feature of resort is its location and easy access to Beach.

I am a Cairns local and I have stayed at both of these places--I really liked the Mantra Amphora resort the best but it comes back to personal taste. Both are well located and both have a relaxing environment and great services. Palm Cove is a delightful area with an ambience of its own. Have a wonderful stay .

Ive looked at the accommodation for Palm Cove and I have narrowed it down to two hotels/resorts...
the two that look the best & best for price are "The Reef Retreat" & the "Mantra Amphora Resort"
has anyone stayed at these OR been to Palm Cove and have any knowledge of which one I choose???

Don't know much about Mantra but it looked nice.
