Palm Royale Cairns

A royal welcome at the Palm Royale.

The Palm Royale is part of "Australia's largest motel chain, Golden Chain.
It used to be classed as a resort before the chain took over and even though it is now a motel it has retained it's resort facitilies.They have 150 units spread over three levels with a lift to each floor.
The warm welcome my relations received was wonderful,the staff made them and me feel right at home and were only to happy for me to do a review.
The rooms all have ensuites,air con and fans,bar fridge,tea/coffee,colour tv and clock radio and iron and board.
Each room has a private balcony overlooking the two resort pools,one of these is a lap pool.
There is a small guest lounge with internet,a tour desk with all tour operators picking up and dropping off at the door.A nice waiting area at reception.
Guest laundry is available and off street parking for those who are driving.
The Palm Royale also offers to pick you up and drop you off at the airport for a small fee of $10
cheaper than a taxi,they also offer regular city-centre shuttle that operates during the day and evening for a small fee.If you want to catch the local sunbus then they leave from Raintrees shopping centre directly opposite the motel and will take you to the CBD. The Raintrees shopping centre is a small place to shop for all your needs.

It is located approx 1klm from the main Highway into Cairns and has nice views to the ranges or Cairns slopes as us locals like them to be known.

My relations were more than happy with the cost of $85 for a double room per night (payment for the room not per person) some rooms have adjoining rooms for families. They also offer weekly special rates.

Beaches Cafe has closed down but you can go across to the Plaza Cafe at Raintrees Shopping Centre opposite the premises.

Every thing is spotlessly clean inside.The facade needs a bit of a paint/face lift but it does not take away the ambiance of this place..I recommend it to anyone who wants good value, warm hospitality and somewhere away from the main stream.

Unique Quality: The facitilies are very good.The staff are welcoming and helpful and the lift/elevator to each level is a god send.

The balcony's to each unit over looking the tropical crystal clear pools more than makes up for the lack of views that the executive rooms offer.

The beds are in excellent condition and the rooms kept spotless (see my pics) taken today 3rd April 2012.
