Pro Dive Cairns
by dgines
You can't go to Australia without diving the Great Barrier Reef. Cairns is a great starting off point, but you will be sadly disappointed by the reefs in Cairns if you only go on a day trip from the local port. The reef in that area is dying and getting bleached out.
You'll be better off getting on a live aboard or taking a trip up to Port Douglass to catch a dive boat from there. Boats Available
- Tusa Dive (Cairns)
- Silverswift (Cairns)
- Silversonic (Port Douglass)
Irish pub with class
by Gypsygirl05 about P.J. O'Brien's
PJ's is a displaced Irish pub, laden with all sorts of Irish paraphernalia and drinks. It's more of a sit-and-drink type of place than a nightclub, though there is often live music and it can get pretty crowded. The food is good, and they get some interesting characters. There is also an outdoor seating area on the sidewalk who would rather enjoy the night air.
GREAT FOOD, GREAT PRICE
by Anne12 about BAYLEAF BALINESE RESTAURANT
This is a great place to eat. The menu is interesting, we usually go for something with seafood.
The serves are a great size, order a couple and then share.
The sevice is usually good and the deco is relaxed, casual. You can get dressed up or go casual, whatever your heart desires.
There is a bar area where you can sit and have a drink before dinner.
This Restaurant is attached to the Bayleaf Village Resort.
Make a booking as it is very popular.
Take a trip with Uncle Brian
by AndFie
This is the best tour!!
If you're visiting Cairns, in Far North Queensland, Australia, you shouldn't miss a special day in the rainforest with your Uncle Brian . He takes people from all over the world to share a day of "Fun, Falls and Forest" - gently walking, talking, swimming, sliding, singing - a combination of rainforests, waterfalls, and of course fun.
He puts as much into our day together as I can, but in a relaxed, non-rushed way.
He likes to chat about the remarkable forests in an informal, friendly way - then as the day continues - an opportunity to simply relax and enjoy them.
The bonus for staying out a little later is that you spend time at the end of our day in search of the elusive little platypus.
While he would never guarantee 100% to see one - he certainly offers a very good chance of success.
Then it's over to a little volcanic crater lake after the sun has just gone - a very peaceful time of day - then a journey of fun all the way home in the dark.
You can always find him .' on the bright side of the road".

GREEN ISLAND, OCEAN FREE, if your looking for a small (only 58 people) friendly relaxing day, this is one of the smaller boats that takes you out, the staff are v v friendly and remember everyones names which makes it all that more friendly, its $99 per person and you have plenty of food and drink with a nice glass (or 2) of wine and cheese on the way home, you get to snorkel with all the equipment included and the stinker suites to, you get to dive for $70 extra with someone where u also get a certificate, and the staff are great they make u feel very safe and relaxed, you only go down with yourself and one other person, maybe sometimes a third so its v v safe and personal, after lunch you get to go to green island for an couple of hours, cannot say wot that was like as i decided to go for a 2nd dive, on the way back they switch the engines off and let the sails take you home while looking out for dolphins over a glass of wine, or like me fall asleep. well worth the money,
