Not a good idea...
Serpent Backpacker Hostel is part of the Nomad's chain. It is situated north of the city centre, so it is quiet a walk to get there. It is of average size: Three floors, but still not really big if you compare it to hostels in Sydney or Melbourne.
The good thing is that the staff are really nice, there is a free breakfast (though not a big one) and Gobal Gossip Internet available. Also, they help you book tours and really know their work.
On the other hand, this really is a party hostel: Even in the morning, when having breakfast, the so-called music is so loud that you get a headache. During the night, I woke up several times because of the music, and later drunk people were running around the building, yelling and bumping against the doors. The rooms are very crowded and most of the time not tidy, and the bathrooms are not the cleanest. And despite all this, the hostel is not even cheap.
I would never have gone there, it was only because I had Greyhound kms left which paid for my stay. If you just finished school and all you want is drink alcohol and meet boys/girls, it's great - otherwise: Don't choose this hostel!!!
