Ok for our overnight stay

Just stayed for one night before catching a flight the following morning to Brisbane. Chose this hotel because we had previously stayed a week earlier at their property in Brisbane and were pleased during our 3 night stay, so expected the same here.
The hotel location is fine but the parking is a bit difficult and a little confusing below once you do find the entrance to the underground lot.
Our check in was fine and the desk staff were pleasant. Once in our room I was a little surprised to see that it looked like the place was in need of some refurbishment. Furniture, floors etc. were definitely showing signs of wear and tear however the original quality of the room was quite apparent. I could see that it must have been very lovely in years gone by and was probably the premier hotel in downtown Cairns.
We only had a lunch and breakfast in the hotel restaurant and were not overly impressed with the quality of the food and we found the service just ok. Decided not to have our evening meal at any of the hotel restaurants but did have a nice dinner at a french bistro a short walk from the hotel.
Not much of a gambler so the casino was of no consequence to us.
Overall it was fine but we had expected more for the price.

We stayed in this hotel beginning of November and can't speak highly enough about it. Even though it is part of the Reef Casino we were worried that it would be noisy. Perish the thought! The room was very spacious with its own balcony, huge comfy beds, sofa, table etc and plenty of room to move around. Spa bath, huge shower, double vanity and separate toilet with handbasin. No noise whatsoever. Brilliant. Considered it money well spent and would not hesitate to stay there again. Staff were attentive and on the ball. We look forward to our next stay at the Sofitel Cairns.
Amazing hotel

Stayed at Sofitel during Dec and I can't say enough about it. The staff were all so helpful and polite The room was clean and the bed was so comfy. Everything there exceed my expectations. If I were to go back, this would be the place to stay. Location wise, it is close to everything, i.e. the docks were you book water excursions, shopping, restaurants and the night market.

A great hotel - the other reviews are right on with their comments. Very helpful and professional staff in the foyer. Fantastic large rooms with good air-conditioning (the aircon control was a little hard to find, tucked away in the closet), with adjustable sliding louvered doors. The bed is very, very good, firm but with a 75 mm pillowtop that you just sink into. Large and comfy pillows. Good coffee and tea-making facilities, excellent room and pool service
As somebody mentioned, the parking entrance was difficult to locate at first (it's on the other side of the hotel, in the middle of the road), but parking was free - just ask for an exit voucher at reception.
Although attached to the Casino, the rooms are quiet and restful.
Situated close to the restaurants along the Esplanade, a short walk from the Marina and close to the shops, it's in an ideal location.
OK, so it's expensive, but worth every penny.

Absolutely faultless. Great location. Short walk to anything you need. The bed. Oh my god the bed. It was the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. Friendly and helpful staff and a very affordible room service menu if you felt lazy.
Other review I read was that they found parking confusing. $5 a night parking or $8 for velat .
Casino is very small so don't be worried about noise or any crowds.
We had free buffet breaky which was awsome.
But the bed zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. I will remember it forever.
Loved this hotel

Loved staying at this hotel. Upon arrival I received a complimentary upgrade to a water view room. The room would be one of the most comfortable I have ever stayed in. Attention to detail was great, the buffet dinner was delicious, the facilities, the pool, the gym were all fantastic!! I cant rave enough about this hotel.

Stayed here for 5 nights. fantastic room and the staff from the houskeeping staff to the front desk staff areall friendly and helpful.
stayed in a corner water view room. the room and balcony were huge and the spa and bathroom fantastic
