CALOUNDRA BY THE SEASIDE!
"Coming to Caloundra?"
A lovely City on the Sunshine Coast, where I love to visit and enjoy the
uncrowded beaches [except in holiday times] with views of the Glass
House Mountains, the shallow, calm waters of the Pumicestone Passage,
and the interesting coastal headland walk, where I can view interesting
coves and sandy beaches.
There's plenty of Beaches to choose from, like Golden Beach,
Kings Beach, Shelly Beach, Moffat Beach, Dicky Beach and Currimundi.
The Caloundra Coastal Path passes by scenic shorelines where the waves
crash onto the rock platforms. The path is a continuous from Golden
Beach heading around Caloundra Headland then Moffat Headland, before
reaching the long, sandy beaches of Kawana to Point Cartwright.
Along the way it passes some historic sites including Military Jetty used for
military operations in World War II, and Kings Beach Bathing Pavillion
constructed in 1937.
There are also magnificent views to enjoy at Moffat Beach, Kings Beach,
Happy Valley and Bulcock Beach.
Kings Beach is Caloundra's popular surfing beach and just behind the
beach itself is a modern playground area, barbecue facilities and an
amphitheatre. A giant water fountain provides hours of entertainment
while in front of the Surf Club there's a foreshore swimming pool.
You can go cycling or walking, enjoy a cruise, kayak or jet ski.
A Golfer, then try the Greg Norman-designed Club Pelican.
The excellent Corbould Race course is located on the outskirts of
Caloundra and holds some big events during the year, one being the
Caloundra Cup Carnival in July.
