"life's a beach"
no matter what else you do when you visit the sunshine coast, the beach has gotta be near the top of your list. it's central to the lives of the locals - they all surf or body board or walk dogs along the sand. i love heading down with a book to finish off a hard days work by soaking up the last of the sun.
another of my favourite activities is going down to the esplanade early, picking a spot to have breakfast, and then watching all the surfers come up from the water with the sun rising behind them. yum!
the surf club here is pretty central as well, with good food. come here for a night of casual drinks and dinner with friends, and watch the storms roll in! this is the starting point for a lot of the locals nights out.
life in coolum is life in the slow lane. don't expect your coffee to arrive straight away or for the bus to be on time. do expect your aussie mate to want to 'just have a look' at the surf even if they're not gonna paddle out. on time here doesn't mean the same as in the cities and all sentences end with 'ay'.
