Coolum Beach Caravan Park: Camping next to the beach

Coolum Beach Caravan Park is on David Low Way about two hours drive from Brisbane. Situated right next to the beach, it is a launching pad for sunbathing, walking and water sport. A very popular destination, it was booked out while we were camping - in winter!

Obviously catering for the grey nomads crisscrossing Australia in their caravans, the Park also offers cabins, powered van and unpowered tent sites. We were spectacularly located within 20m of the beach and close enough to the amenities for comfort. Pitching our three-person tent, we liked the fact that the lawn was healthy and even - hardly stepped any dirt into our tent. As luck would have it, we had a lamp post nearby giving us sufficient light despite the site being unpowered!

The shower water was hot and we did not have to pay extra for that. BBQ beautifully clean and a 20c coin got the gas going. Petrol station nearby, as were convenience stores, butcher, ATMs, newspapers, coffee and ice cream.

Lots of families, grey nomads and some backpackers at the Park during our time there.
