These luxury villas were placed in secluded positions high in the rainforest canopy. A full cooked breakfast is included each morning, and all spa facilities, pool and secluded waterfall are within strolling distance of the villas.

Paradise!

Painting downunder

by ray_d

My friend Regina from Vienna needs a favor.

She desperately needs to know if there are any classes in Aboriginal painting anywhere in Australia.
Up to now I have drawn a blank and have run out of options!

Whether it is a “One off” class or a short course, it would be wonderful to know.

Contact details, a web site, or anything that could help identify where these classes could be done would be very much appreciated.

Thank you people.

Try this one:

http://www.aboriginalaustralia.com.au/tour_info.cfm?id=118

"Art classes begin in Daintree Eco Lodge & Spa’s Aboriginal Art Gallery, which showcases world class works of art by local Aboriginal artists. Visitors are encouraged to create their own Aboriginal inspired masterpieces using the natural ochres, incorporating Aboriginal techniques as inspiration. Guests can use either acrylic paints or traditional ochre from the property, and keep their art work as a memento of their visit to this unique area. Art classes run for approximately 2 hours."

This one seems quite good.

Or you could look around this one:

TAFE might also have some courses going.

Hope that helps some Ray :-)

Another possible is the Koorie (one of the Aboriginal "nations" that covers Victoria and parts of SA and NSW) Heritage Trust and Cultural Centre here in Melbourne - http://www.koorieheritagetrust.com/

They certainly have exhibition space for artists works and would almost certainly have contacts in the painting "industry"

Good luck

David

Yes Ray, about 10 minutes down the road! A wonderful part of the world that I'm keen to show off when I get around to updating my pages.
