Quandong Creek Rainforest Lodge: It's a rainforest retreat!
This unique and lovely place is situated deep in the Eungella National Park. It was a fantastic experience to be surrounded by the natural beauty that Eungella is famous for.
The couple that run the place are extremely friendly and helpful and we had a great time when Evett took us for a 30 minute bush walk over 5 creek crossings to a lovely waterhole for a very refreshing swim...nothing like the freezing waters of a mountain waterhole to liven you up!
Unique Quality: This establishment caters for large numbers [ 15 minumum ] with bunk style accomodation and full cooking facilities. All meals are provided for the unbelievable price of $55 per person, per night.
The food was very good!...Breakfast, lunch and dinner plus morning and afternoon teas. Merilyn made the best date and walnut loaf I have ever tasted plus some very yummy Dutch goodies that went down a treat!
The bathroom facilites are accessible via a covered walkway. It is all very clean and and there is plenty of hot water!
To top it off they even have their very own resident platypus family just metres from the lodge. They come out to play each morning and evening.

Broken River Mountain Resort: Rainforest retreat.
This eco certified resort is very popular.
I have never stayed there but I have friends and family that have. All have enjoyed their stay and gone back for another visit.
Unique Quality: Being an eco resort it maintains a low impact on the delicate environment of the rainforest.
It has a licenced restaurant and bar and a 50 seat auditorium.
Its accomodation consists of one and two bedroom cabins plus family studios.
They offer guided sightseeing tours and platypus viewing.

Chalet Hotel: "A pub with a difference"
Now this pub would win the 'Pub with the best views in Australia competition' hands down!
Also perched on a cliff edge this establishment is also one of Australias best known hang gliding establishments and is a mecca for enthusiasts.
Established in 1934, the Chalet has been re-furbished over the years and offers a unique experience.
Unique Quality: Facilities include swimming pool, log fires, stunning views and it is close to all that Eungella has to offer.
And don't forget that hang gliding launch pad. It sits directly in front of the resort!

Eungella Holiday Park: A camp ground with a difference.
I was stunned when I first arrived. This establishment would win the 'Campground with the best views in Australia' competition hands down!
It goes something like this...Imagine a two storey house. Bottom level, combination reception/grocery store/cafe. Top level, 3 bedroom apartment with verandahs front and rear.
The front lawn ends abruptly at a cliff edge with views that stretch for miles into the distance.
If you choose to stay at the upstairs apartment, that front verandah has [ in my opinion ) a million dollar view.
Unique Quality: I spent two nights at this campground over the New Year period and had a vey pleasant and relaxing stay. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
Accomodation also comes in the form of cabins, camping and caravan sites.
It is not a huge place and could do with a bit of a face lift but on a whole it was a great experience.

Platypus Lodge: Rustic accommodation with platypus(pi????)i!!!!!!
A great place to stay in the Eungella National Park. Accommodation is in elevated, open sided huts in the forest, with the result that you don't just wake up at dawn to the sound of the birds, they are quite literally perched just a few feet from you!
As well as the hut accommodation there is also space for camping and kitchen facilities (although it should be noted that these are for the use of people staying in the huts only, and not the campers).
Unique Quality: The best thing about Platypus Lodge is that it backs straight onto a pretty creek, where, if you are quiet in the evening and early mornings, you will see platypus.
The poor light conditions make photographing these creatures near impossible, but seeing them in the wild is a genuine thrill. it is also a lot more pleasant to see them here than at the busier Broken River.
