Fitzroy Island resort
It's the only possibility of accommodation in the island and it's really nice. It consist of some bungalows,each one with a few rooms. I got the hostel option (that means i had to share the room and bathroom with other people) but it is very clean and comfortable. Of course you can get a private room if you want. The hosts of the resort can enjoy also a small swimming pool and the buffet breakfast that is included in the price.
Overall it turns out to be quite cheap and nice.

Fitzroy Island Resort
Well technically we didn't end up staying over night on Fitzroy. It was pissing down rain and the boys found stains on the sheets in their bunks. It smelled funny too.
Unique Quality: We had to take this 40 person Speed Boat across the ocean from Cairns to Fitzroy Island. The ocean was extremely rough that day and I swear our boat was catching air. It was fun for about 5 min. The Japanese tourists at the front of the boat were wearingswim goggles. It was pretty funny. Maybe they had the right idea because after the 45 min ride when we arrived, everything including us, was soaking wet.....Thank goodness we got to take the ferry back.

Not exactly luxury...
I'm not sure what this place is actually classifed as the accommodation is informal but reputedly comfortable. Guests have a choice of a stay in the 2 bedroom beach cabins, which have one queen bed and separate bunk bed, or a stay in the beach bunk houses that sleep up to four people with shared bathroom facilities. I even believe those can be shared between different parties of people. It's not really luxurious accomodations, but it is convenient, and it does seem nice. I did not stay on the island overnight, but did get to get a good look at the rooms.

A bunkhouse
There is one resort on the island that is suited for every need, to host the day tourists or for the backpacker that wants to stay for the night. We were in a bunkhouse with separate rooms that host 4 people.
The rooms are nice and clean and the beds are great and that should give you a good nights rest if you don't have a room mate who is snoring
