Packing List
by aussirose
It's best to come in summer and travel light. People here don't dress up much. Surfers is a good place to buy tshirts. Definately don't forget the mozzie stuff. Also we have these flying dots (that's the only way you can describe them) called midgies. You wonder how such a small thing could bite so fiercely. Baby oil does the trick - they just slide off, can't bite.. I It's hard to find many places in Aussi that are free anymore. We used to be able to camp on most quiet beaches without any bother. Unfortunately some yobbos wrecked it for us all and the ranger comes around and moves you on. But there are a lot of caravan/camping parks that cater for tourists on a budget and most are still cheep..

Hankering For Some Mexican?!
by MissBianca about Panchos Mexican Restaurant
Hankering for some really yummy Mexican and don't mind a bit of a drive? Then make a booking at Panchos Mexican Restaurant.
Approximately 16kms from Surfers Paradise, you will surely have worked up a bit of a apetite by the time you get there. Pratically in the middle of 'nowhere', this little restaurant sits all by itself on the outskirts of the Hinterland.
With the best magheritas in town, this place is an absolute hit with all the locals and you can guarantee it will be busy every night of the week, so ensure you book in advance.
The ambience is so bright and colourful with everything 'mexican' imaginable hanging from the ceilings. With a basic seating style, lounge and bar this place is extremely cosy. Children are very welcome here and I ensure they will love coming here as much as you. I never leave this place until I have myself a big belly full of magheritas, enchiladas and a plate full of their chocolate tacos/nachos.
With an extensive menu, prices are dirt cheap with main meals fetching around $12-$15AUD. And even if you have one of those 'not-so-mexican-lovers' in your family, Panchos also cooks a mean steak.
Keep in mind that meals are prepared fresh so they tend to take a little longer. If you are in a hurry please advise the waiter or waitress serving you so they can make sure you get your meals in speedy time.
Group bookings of 20 people or more get a special deal of two courses for only $15AUD!
Opening hours are as follows:
Thursday: Open from 5:30pm
Friday: Open from 5:30pm
Saturday: Open from 5:30pm
Sunday: Open from 12:00pm for lunch
NOTE! Be prepared and take cash with you, as credit cards and eftpos facilities are NOT available.
Springbrook National Park - Natural Bridge
by ATXtraveler
If you are headed to the Gold Coast, you should definitely take a day trip out to Springbrook National Park, and enjoy the Natural Bridge Walking track. It has some spectacular views, as well as a natural occurance of Glowworms. All in all, it is a beautiful nature walk, and well worth your time!
