6 days in Gold Coast

by chantress

Hi all,

My galfriend and i will be travelling to Gold Coast in 2 weeks time.
Our itinerary is mostly visits to the 3 Worlds (Movieworld.etc) and surf school in the morning.

Can anybody suggests any good locations for White water rafting or bush walking, anything else other than the zoo? We are pretty much up for anything as long as its not too far off from our hotel area in Hanlan Street.

Please kindly leave your comments as soon as possible.
Thankz in advanced :-)

Hey mate,

There's heaps to do on the Gold Coast, if you want to go bushwalking there's the springbrook national park.. its a little while from Surfers Paradise where you're staying but there's tour buses that take people out there all the time. The theme parks are great, as you already know by the sounds of it. The beaches are awesome.. I think it really depends on what kinda things you're into..

White water rafting is probably a bit further north, i can't say i know of anywhere that does it here on the Gold Coast. it's probably worth a look at one of the tourist info desks though.. If you go into the main shopping centre in the middle of Surfers Paradise you can't miss the tourist info centre there - they have brochures for all sorts of things and they can probably give you more info on the national parks.

Calls from Mobile phones to 000 are FREE

For non emergencies call 131 233.

Crime is not a serious problem, but if you do need the Police here are some local numbers......

SCENIC DRIVE - NUMINBAH VALLEY & BEYOND

by balhannah

Holidaying on the "Coast" is full of fun, sand & surf and nightlife.

Perhaps one day, you may feel like a change of scenery, if so, a drive to the hinterland in a hire car, or with a tour company is an excellent days outing.

This is a drive I have often done. It begins at Nerang (exit 69) off the Pacific highway. The drive is past lush green countryside, Dairy Farms, fresh crystal clear creeks, and all with the cliffs, and maybe some waterfalls as the backdrop.
As you follow this road through the Numinbah valley, you will see a Prison farm where low risk prisoner's are kept. These are ones that may have refused to pay a fine, etc. etc.

Make sure you take time to call into Natural Arch and have a look before continuing about another 4kms to the New South Wales border.
Just over the border, be ready to pull off and stop at the valley lookout [pull-off]. Views are far reaching.
A good stop for lunch is the "green village" of Chillingham. Just a quiet country town, that gets busy on the weekends!

All the way the scenery is nice, if like us, coming after a good rain, then you will see waterfalls plummeting down the cliff faces, and more waterfalls and cascades in the creek, like we did, ones I had never seen before. Also, the grass was green, green!!

This drive is also a chance to buy fresh fruit and vegetables from the roadside stalls, and at the little town of Uki, they hold a Sunday market in the hall.
Not long after here, you are back at the gold coast, away from the peace & quiet of the Gold Coast hinterland!

Fill up with petrol before you leave, and either take something for a bbq or picnic or buy something from the village. There are lots of nice picnic places, and most have Toilets.

Definitely, the CONRAD HOTEL...

by Krystynn

Definitely, the CONRAD HOTEL & JUPITERS CASINO.

You can either catch a lavish Broadway style show at the International Showroom... or you may wish to gamble the night away and hope to hit the jackpot (read: slot machines) at the Jupiters Casino. Smart casuals, please. Don't come dress in your flip flops. I know the Aussies are very casually dressed but they certainly aren't sloppy. :-))

Diva Coffee & Tea House - at Marina Mirage

by sue_stone about Diva Coffee & Tea House

If you find yourself wandering around near Marina Mirage and want a place to have a quick coffee or nice cup of tea then one of the more affordable options in the area is to pop into Diva Coffee & Tea House.

Ok, it is nothing special, and probably caters mainly to tourists and the neighbouring boutique workers, but it did the trick when we needed an afternoon top-up. Service was friendly and there was a decent smattering of people there on a mid-week afternoon.

We just had a pot of tea and shared some treats - a florentine and a couple of cookies.

by Venturingnow

Ok, first of you're gonna get some Koala pictures. All of which were taken personally, by me of course. Two of the pics came from the wild, the other two I took in a wildlife zoo. This is the 1st pic of a real koala out in the wild.
