Hi there... Welcome to the coast.

There are heaps of airport transfer services available between the gold coast and brisbane int airport. There is the airtrain (just watch the times of the trains as the they dont start early enough for the 1st plane and takes approx an hour half - it takes only about an hour in a private car traffic permitting!although the gate way bridge is natourious for delays). Then there is heaps of bus services that pick up from major hotels and private addresses and you just contact them with your departure details and they will tell their pick up time (only downside sometimes they go and collect what seems to be another 1000 or so customers after they have got you and then head to the airport - its not that bad just seems that way at 3am in the morning :-) ). If you google airport transfers from brisbane airport to gold coast then you will come up with at least a dozen or so companies. Maybe you will be able to book out a mini bus and or get some sort of deal for such a large group! (It may even be cheaper to hire a mini bus and drive down here yourselves - very easy the M1 (freeway is super close to bris airport and it is virtually 1 road until u take southport/surfers exit and then only about 15mins or to surfers from that exit.

Hire car companies are a dime a dozen and you should be able to barter a decent deal there if you ask hard enough.

Hotels - I dont really stay in them much (I live only a few mins from surfers so have no need) but if the ones in surfers are 2 expensive try southport and you will be able to get a broadwater view. You will have 24hr access to surfers and only takes about 5-10 mins in the car depending where abouts you stay. Let me know if you find anything that takes your fancy and I will see if i know it or if it has a decent reputation.

Enjoy ur trip.

Cabarita Beach

by iandsmith

Imagine a long stretch of beach. The sand is firm because there's no steep drop-off. There's just you and your partner strolling along on a spring afternoon. There's nary another soul in sight.
Well, if you're at Surfers Paradise, that's not going to happen. Should you choose however, to journey half an hour south, it could all happen for you at Cabarita Beach.
I'd like to say this is a town that hasn't changed much but, sadly, the old pub has gone and been replaced by a 5 star resort although a modern hotel will also grace the area.
One suspects Cabarita's proximity to the Gold Coast will mean that ultimately it will head down the same path but, for the time being, it's still a manageable place (albeit not yet acknowledged by VT which is why the tip is here) that I still recognize from my youth.
It basically has everything you need at a beach resort except the crowd.

Melba's on the Park

by timtrina about Melba's on the Park

The best club on the coast - many of us go there afterwork (work clothes totally acceptable). Has a restaurant attached to the nightclub.

Great music, fantastic atmosphere! For all the times I've been there, I have never seen one 'altercation' between patrons - something quite rare for the coast's club scene! Smart Casual - a little more 'upmarket' than alot of Cavill Avenue clubs.

Traditional Indian Food

by bkarjee about DILLI DARBAR

This Indian Restaurant was hardly 300 mtrs away from my apartment and hence we tried it twice. Both time, the restaurant was almost full and the service was very good. Just two youngsters were managing the show very well and the delay was minimal.
We tried Butter Chicken with Naan and Malai Kofta and the taste was yummy. Serving were sufficient for two people. The rates were also reasonable. Tandoori Chicken

Wonderful Balloon Ride

by yobei

Balloon Aloft showed promptly, were professional, and provided an amazing tour of the Gold Coast. A Champaign buffet breakfast was optional. Both 30 min. and 1 hour tours are offered. The views were spectacular.
