Gold Coast's Quiet Paradise

We went to the Gold Coast for two nights and found the one bedroom apartments to be very clean and affordable. Cheryl and Andrew were our friendly hosts where they looked after the guests and premises to the best of their ability. The apartments had a kitchen, FOXTEL TV Set, double bed, shower facilities, washing machine and dryer. The street was very quiet and the apartments were located close to the city centre and serviced well by public transport. We would recommend this hotel apartment to a couple who are staying in Gold Coast for a honeymoon or just having a break.

Unique Quality: The outstanding characteristics of this apartment was that it was low rise with lovely gardens and a pool in a quiet setting. The premises were very well maintained by our hosts.

Budget accomodation and things to do

by melanierose

My boyfriend and I will be on the Gold Coast for just over a week in early May and we would like some advice on where to stay. We're looking for a place somewhere in the under $30 per person price range. Has anyone been to a really great hostel that they would like to recommend?
Also, other than surfing, any advice on what sorts of things we should really try to do/see while there?
Thanks a lot in advance!

My daughter always uses Gold Coast International Backpackers Hostel..They are just off Cavill Mall, and within 3 minutes of nightclubs,Surfers Paradise beach etc...They have rooms that have their own bathroom and nice gardens and a big kitchen..check out their website to see if its what you are looking for.

We stayed at the Coolangatts yha, Its located right next door to the airport and although lots of planes the noise didn't bother us. Its quieter then the Surfer's Paradise one which is generally known as the Party house.

What to see, well there's the theme parks, and try and do the Outback Spectacular Show, oh the guys at the coolangatta also give free transport to the best surfing spots.

Travel Tips for Gold Coast

Site Seeing

by Sweetberry1

The Gold Coast has a number of theme parks, as well as many other attractions, Beaches, Bushland, Sanctuary Cove..
It is also in the vicinity of several other towns/cities, that can easily be visited on a day trip. Brisbane and Tweed Heads are definitely worth a visit. Everything about the Gold Coast region is beautiful, especially the climate.

Land and Water cruise adventure-Aquaduck tour

by bkarjee

This amphibious tour is very interesting. It covers Surfers Paradise Beach main road and then it dives into the Pacific Ocean and covers the broadwater coast. There is a continuous commentary regarding all the attractions along the route. The cruise time is approx one hour and there are various departure timings from Orchid Avenue at Surfers Paradise
Dep time 10:00; 11:15, 12:30, 13:45, 15:00, 15:15, 17:30 hrs
We have a similar one in Singapore and is quite popular there. The Aquaduck boat

Nightclubs !

by grantravel about Surfers Paradise

Love it or loathe it, the commercialisation of the Gold Coast tourism industry has provided the area with one of the best ranges of entertainment options in the world. By day there are any number of touristy things to spend your time on, but as the sun sets, the thriving nightclub industry comes alive.

If you're looking for something to do on the Gold Coast after the suns gone down head to Surfers Paradise for a night out until the sun comes back up.

Club styles vary from Top 40 dance hits and alternative rock to modern house and acid jazz. Whatever your taste and budget you shouldd be able to find a club you like. The clubs are all very close togther, so you don't have to walk to far to the next one, if your ears don't like what there hearing.

Clubs are packed with tourists during peak holiday seasons, schoolies week and the Indy Carnival, but you'll find the crowd is generally made up of partying locals 365 days a year.

Drinks are reasonably cheap compared to big city prices and you shouldn't really expect to pay much more than $5.00 for your average beer or spirit. Club Wear.

Steak to die for.

by goldcoaster about Cav's Steakhouse

For the absolute best chunk of dead cow in town, you have to go to Cav's. It is a Gold Coast icon but its reputation is fully deserved.

You won't get a meal covered in sauce to disguise the fact their food is bad but you will get a perfect steak. Served with a homemade coleslaw and a baked potato with bacon sauce, it's all you need. My favourite is the export quality rib eye, extra rare. There is nothing like hearing the steak moo when you put the fork in. It is expensive, about $26, but worth every penny.

World Heritage Rainforest

by goldcoaster

You must make time to head up to either Binna Burra or O'Reilleys when you are on the Gold Coast. It truely is worth the drive to experience rainforest this pristine so close to a city of half a million people.

Take Binna Burra if you are really into bushwalking or head to O'Reilleys if you want a more tourist oriented feel but both are a good time.

You can also head across the Border Ranges into the world heritage Nightcap Ranges. Much less developed and abit further but more natural.
