If you want to wash you own linen

We checked in via the intercom and got our assigned car park and room. Upon driving to the car park it was taken. Upon going back to the intercom and speaking with the person on the other end I was told to take someone else car park. They would then have to find another one.

I have stayed here five times. The other times there have been minimal cleanliness issues and a great time. This time it was disgusting. The two children’s bed spreads were yellow underneath and had food rubbed in. The mattress protector was stained yellow. I started washing them however they would not fit into the dryer. Reception was not open and we had to make do until the next day.

The next day I spoke to reception and was told we would be moved rooms. This did not occur and the cleaners were then suppose to replace all the linen. This did not happen either. We were still stuck with the yellow and food encrusted bed spreads. Some did come out with us washing ourselves.

The cooking utensils in the rooms were stained and gross. They needed washing before use. The carpet needed a good clean and tiles stained.

This place is a great location for families and it is a shame they have let the quality slip.

Unique Quality: Good location for families.

That is a good time for a visit here, nice weather.
By clicking on my name above my photo, you can have a look at my Brisbane, Gold coast,Tweed Heads, Tamborine Mountain & Lamington National park pages for what you can see and do in those 6 days. I have not included all the theme parks that are on the coast. There is so much, you will have to choose which appeals the most.
Saves me typing it all out again!
have a good time!

Good advice from Balhannah- read the pages and tips.
Accommodation...........depends on your budget (luxury, budget etc??)
If you rent a car- it is better to bring an International Driving Licence.

Hi, welcome to VT.

We really need more info from you before we can answer.
What do you like to do? Are you a beach person or do you prefer cities? Do you like theme parks or open countryside? What budget do you have for accommodation?

The weather's good in both March and April so the dates don't really matter.

It doesn't really matter what month you go although if I had a preference I would say March only because Qld school holidays are in April so prices go up for everything in school holidays. I would spend 2 days in Brisbane and the remainder on the Gold Coast. Get accommodation that has ocean views. There is lots to choose from. And make sure it is walking distance to Cavill Mall but not too close so the noise won't bother you of the nightclubs etc. Renting a car is a very good idea as there is very little public transport on the Gold Coast. Brisbane has a good train network but hiring a car to get around might be the way to go. Have a look at Secrets of the Gold Coast in ezine for more tips.

Travel Tips for Gold Coast

Beware Schoolies time.

by goldcoaster

At the end of November each year, thousands of finishing high school students decend on the Gold Coast to celebrate finishing school. During this time, some areas are closed to the public and it can be very inconveinient.

While they tend to be fairly well behaved, there have been some problems with drunkeness in the past. In a group of 30 000 there are always a few. It is probably best to avoid the Surfers Paradise area altogether at this time. Stay in the southern suburbs like Broadbeach, Mermaid or Nobby's Beach.

I think the Australians are...

by Krystynn

I think the Australians are generally one of the nicest groups of people on earth... always friendly and seemingly laidback. But man, until you come to Gold Coast, you'd probably never truly experienced hospitality at its best! And everyone here is soooo laid back. Coming from a busy and always on-the-go kind of environment, holidaying in Gold Coast is indeed nothing short of splendid! Remember, just arm yourself with a mega-watt smile.... no need to bring loads of $$$$... oh, and pack along ALL your sexy bikinis and for the more modest amongst us (ahem!), swimming costumes. :-)

This is Paradise on Earth, my friends!

P.S. And that's me in the pic below having a ball of a time here in MOVIE WORLD with my favorite Loony Tunes cartoon character, Bugs Bunny!

Alpaca Farms

by ATXtraveler

On the way up to O'Reilly's Guesthouse, there was a little cafe and Alpaca farm that we stopped in at. There some beautiful views as we sipped our drinks and enjoyed the crazy alpacas doing Alpaca things.

Then, out of nowhere, a cardboard alpaca jumped out and required Sarah to take a picture with it... I really think this was gross commercialization, and that this alpaca was being forced into these pictures, but it did not seem like there were any other humans forcing this alpaca to do such things.

Gold Coast by public bus

by balhannah

Public buses run by "'Surfside" run the length of the Gold Coast.

When you arrive on the Gold Coast, grab a copy of Surfside’s Get Around Guide from the one of the Gold Coast Tourist Shuttle Transport & Information desks located at the Gold Coast Airport, on one of their buses or from your hotel or tour desk.
If you go to their website, you can download one.

Many parts of the Gold Coast operate on a hail and ride basis, so when you see the bus coming, you need to wave to signal the driver to stop the bus.

Fares vary, depending on where you want to go. The best option is to buy either an Ezy Pass
for unlimited travel, or to have loose change ready to pay your fare. Try to have the correct fare where possible.
For information on fares contact TransLink on 13 12 30 or visit translink.com.au.
TransLink offers concession priced tickets for children.

SINGLE: This one- way ticket allows transfers for up to two hours until you reach your
destination.

DAILY: for unlimited travel in nominated zones. You can travel until the last service on the day of issue.

OFF -PEAK DAILY: for discounted unlimited travel within nominated zones. You must travel between 9.00am and 3.30pm and after 7.00pm on weekdays, and all day on weekends and public holidays.

WEEKLY: for unlimited travel within nominated zones for one week. You can buy a weekly ticket from attended QR stations/agents and Surfside buses.

GO CARD: for longer stays, this electronic ticket gives you discounted travel and automatically calculates your fare. Simply touch on and off each time you travel.

What bus to catch? look for the bus number displayed above the front window of the bus.
