Itenerary for a week in Gold Coast

by khatibs

Hi to all fellow VTers!!

We are planning to spend a week in the Gold Coast as part of our Australian Holiday. We have 3 children in our group aged 15,12 and 8. I'd love to have some suggestions about how we could spend our week. I mean which theme parks are really good and what are the other attractions in the Gold Coast which should not be misssed?? Any suggestions for hiking spots??

Thanx!!

Nazima.

RM Williams have an Outback Spectacular but you need to book ahead. They pick up and deliver for an extra fee. This is at night (not sure about a matinee) but gives you some idea of the Outback .It includes a meal served as you watch the show. The seats are tiered so the view is good.

As for theme parks my grandkids go to Sea World as a rule.

There is a bird sanctuary at Currumbin worth a visit. Then there is the Hinterland area which includes Mount Tamborine. I think you could still go horse riding here. Marg

Mate, all the theme parks are good! Places you should consider and possibly include in your itinerary would be:

Sea World: lots of sea life (including polar bears), some rides, a few shows.
Movie World: Hollywood near the coast, plenty of rides, 3D movies, excellent shows.
Dreamworld: hair-raising rides, white tigers, other animal life.
Zorb: getting into a big plastic ball and rolling down a hill!
Gold Coast Hinterland: particularly Binna Burra and O'Reilly's; feed the rainbow lorikeet!
Gold Coast beaches: Palm Beach and Tallebudgera are my favourites.
Q1 building (in Surfers Paradise): tallest residential in the world (I think); go to the top for amazing views of the Gold Coast.
Cavill Mall, Surfers Paradise: for all the typical touristy shops, attractions.
The Spit: where locals take their dogs onto the off-lead beach.
Whale watch or fishing tours.
Tropical Fruit World: just across the border into NSW; try the chocolate fruit!

Some ideas to get you started!

For hiking, Lamington National Park is not that far away but you need a car to get there.

I have 3 children and they are not so keen on movie world theme park as they don't have as many rides as the other theme parks. Favourites are Dreamworld (loads of rides) and Wet'n'Wild (waterpark). These can be very expensive when taking 3 children especially the food inside the parks. Wet'n'Wild has barbecues available for you to use so I recommend making use of these (take meat etc with you). All the theme parks have lockers for hire for a small fee so if you pack a lunch or even just drinks you can store them in the lockers.
Also if you are planning on going to more than one of the theme parks I suggest you check out their multi passes which will get you in to 3 parks for a reduced cost.

Travel Tips for Gold Coast

3 Park Super Pass

by robertgaz

If you plan to spend some time at the Gold Coast and you want to visit all the theme parks then a better value deal to the general admission prices is to get the "3 Park Super Pass".

The Super Pass gives you unlimited entry for 14 days to Warner Bros. Movie World, Sea World and Wet'n'Wild.

You can visit any park, any day and as many times as you like for 14 days.

Dreamworld is not included in this deal.

Tickets are valid for 14 days from the first park visit and photo ID is required on entry on each visit.

These prices are correct at time of writing but you can check the latest prices online at theme-parks.com.au

Adults $164.00
Children (4 - 13 years inclusive) $106.00

Indy Cars and Girls !!!

by grantravel

Indy fever!! I look forward to Indy weekend every year. If your into cars (Indy or V8), girls (bikini models walking around the track) and partying, don't miss out on this weekend!!!

If you come to the Gold Coast in October (usually around 20th to 25th) make sure you go for at least one day.

Designer Heaven!

by MissBianca about Marina Mirage

Perfectly situated overlooking the broadwater, littered with million dollar luxury boats and yachts, this place is just one big expensive shopping centre.

For those of you who may have more expensive taste and may have a little bit more cash to play with, I recommend taking a visit to Marina Mirage.

With fantastic waterfront dining, fabulous views and designer brands to keep you drooling, you will leave this place feeling like you just stepped out of Hollywood. Expect to spend big here with boutiques specialising in Versace, Hermes, Louis Vuitton, Escada, Zampatti, Dolce & Gabbana, Charlie Brown, George Gross and so many more.

Keep in mind this shopping centre isn't just for ladies of luxury, there are many shops catered for the more refined man too.

Marina Mirage doesn't keep the indulgence restricted just to fashion, you can also purchase jewellery, pet fashion (yes, for your beloved fido!), gifts and homewares, and you can experience a tantilising range of restaurants and cafes.

If you do get a little nibbly I reccomend Omeros Brothers. Although a little pricey, the food is sensational and you can expect for your tummy to be filled with the freshest Australian seafood and the most delectible desserts! Try their crepe suzette ;) Get your credit cards ready because shopping here doesn't come cheap!

Canungra's Outpost

by ATXtraveler about The Outpost Cafe

When you take a trip out to Lamington National Park, you will most likely stop in Canungra, which seems to be very popular with the motorcycle crowd.

I had a really good Aussie Burger, which has pineapple, egg, bacon, and cheese!

It is super delicious.... this also seemed to be sort of a greasy spoon to eat in.... which was a good thing!

Sea World

by amazingclick

Sea World is a theme park wirth its visit. I am a person who had never seena dolphin or a polar bear in his life...it was exhilerating for me to see dolphins and polar bears and a lot of other creatures connected to the sea. Its a unique experience and must be enjoyed.
