  • Worst Resort in the World

    by

The room was dirty, the complimentary bottle of white wine left on the bench rather than in the fridge, no doona, thin dirty blanket, no staff from 12pm on weekends, NO CURTAIN ON THE MAIN BEDROOM! No butter with breakfast. Unhelpful and rude staff on the after hours line.

DO NOT STAY HERE! It is the worst resort/hotel I have ever stayed at.

  • cant wait to do back

had a awesome time with my family. Accomodation was great, rooms where spacious and very clean. Ammenities were fantastic, all the pool where heated. staff where really helpful and would 100% recommend and stay at Ipanema again.

Re: airport transfer

There are shuttle buses http://www.5d.com.au/airportbus/goldcoast.htm

There is an air train http://www.airtrain.com.au/
You would need a taxi or bus from train station to Miami

There are limousines AllLimousineTransfers.Com/Limos

www.airlinkexpress.com.au

http://www.goldcoasttransport.com.au/

If you have a look at some of these it may help.

If you were taking the train option we could work out which is the best rail station.

Do leave plenty of time for your trip back to the airport. There can be traffic hold ups by road.

I often use ConXion when I am flying out of Brisbane. Good service, door to door. http://www.con-x-ion.com For a family they may be a bit expensive though - would be cheaper to hire a car.

The train will take you to the Gold Coast and you could taxi or bus from Robina to your hotel.

Airtrain connect is also a good service and I have also used this. Train then car pre-booked to your destination. http://www.airtrain.com.au

Travel Tips for Gold Coast

Gold Coast Mixed Culture

by RoseAmano

I saw many people come here. Japanese, Chinese, Korean and of course Australians. When I stay here, I saw many Chinese people, mandarin sound. So here is mixed culture. For example one of the Korean food, "Vivinba"mixed with tomato ketchup and red pepper. It was first time for me to eat such Korean food. But maybe this is one of mixed culture.

Big Day Out !

by grantravel

The Big Day Out music festival held on the Gold Coast in January is one of my favourite events of the year.

The bands start playing from 11am and go late into the night (around 11.30pm). The festival features bands from all over the world and Australia. There are two main stages featuring the headlining acts, some smaller stages for local bands and the Boiler room, for DJ's and dance music.

If you enjoy live music don't miss this one!

Mt Tamborine

by tiabunna

Off to the northern end of the ranges you will find Mt Tamborine and the associated Tamborine National Park. To reach it from the Coast, head toward Brisbane on the Pacific Highway and 36km from Southport turn onto the the Oxenford-Tamborine Road. The mountain section is another relatively narrow winding road requiring care, but the rewards are worth it when you find rainforest such as in the heading photo.

The top of Mt Tamborine is outside the National Park and relatively well developed with tourist facilities, such as restaurants and tourist-related shops. You can read more about Mt Tamborine and the giant ancient volcano which formed all these ranges (photo 2 shows model) in my Mt Tamborine VT webpage.

Avocadoland

by aussirose

Avocadoland has a lovely restaurant and the food is quite reasonably priced and well presented and the background music is nice. The setting is tropical and a great place to dine in summer as it has a lovely verandah to eat on. It also has another restaurant with tropic surroundings for families. Avocadoland is also a nice day out. It is just south of the border.
