Have a look at this website

http://www.cheynehoran.com.au/schoolofsurf.html

Surfers Paradise is just that......... a paradise for surfers. There are many different surfing schools. Try googling if the above one is not suitable.

Anywhere along the Gold coast you will find surf shops that will give lessons, not a problem.

Re: learning to surf

as has been said alraedy there is no shortage of companies providing surf lessons in surfers paradise. I would ask around at afew and find out what you get for your money and also try and do one where they don't have too many people in each lesson. 5 days is definitely enough time for you to start standing up and riding some whitewash at least, just stick at it and eventually you'll get there.
Hope this helps.

cool, yeah $$$ will be my budget problem, just afraid i will be chopped $$$ because i m a tourist.

Re: learning to surf

all companies will have an advertised fee but i'm sure that you will have a little bargaining power with them. just say you can't quite afford their price and make a reasonable offer that will make both parties happy.
good luck

Just "google" surf lessons at gold coast and you will get an idea of how many there are to choose from and prices seem to range for groups sessions starting from $30, most are $50. They are set, advertised prices, so you will not get ripped off!

Travel Tips for Gold Coast

by hatter10_6

Visit the Pacific Fair in the morning, Conrad Jupiter Casino in the afternoon, nightclubs at night. Then, you sit on the beach and watch the stars dim and sunrise. Sitting on the beach. Gold coast has one of the best beaches around. Beats that place near LA where Bay Watch is shot, by miles.

Slip / Slop / Slap !!!

by grantravel

Slip on a shirt, Slop on some sunscreen and Slap on a hat and sunglasses!! Most Aussies have grown up with this message, and this message should be taken even more serious on the Gold Coast, because of our outdoor lifestyle.

Depending on where you are staying and what time of the year you come to the Gold Coast, it will affect what you should bring.

Most of the time all you will wear is, singlets (sleeveless tops) or t-shirts, shorts, skirts and swimwear.

If you are staying in the Hinterland or are coming in winter, you should definitely bring along some warmer clothes with you, like a tracksuit or a jacket and a pair of jeans.

You will be required to wear long pants or jeans and closed in shoes in most nightclubs, regardless of the temperature outside.

Comfortable shoes are a must if you plan on going hiking through our national parks. Thongs or sandles are great for the warmer months, or for walking on or near the beach, if you don't already have pair you can buy these from anywhere here. 15+ Sunscreen is a must if you going out into the sun. Also, pack some insect repellant as we have alot of mosquito's and midges in some areas, especially in Summer! Make sure that you bring a hat or cap and sunglasses with UV protection, for when you are out in the sun. Also, bring a rain coat or umbrella, Summer tends to have some thunderstorms.

The Hinterland

by keeweechic

The Hinterland, also known as the 'green behind the gold', is slowly being discovered and has in the past been the Gold Coast best kept secret. It only takes 30 minutes to drive from the coa

st and contains 29 national parks and nature reserves as well as world heritage listed national parks. Included is Australia’s largest area of subtropical rainforest and the worlds biggest volcanic crater of which Mt Warning is the core.

by Krystynn

ALL international flights have to land at Brisbane International Airport... and from there, you make your way to Gold Coast... slightly over an hour's drive from Brisbane.

You can hop onto a shuttle van (check for details at the Info Counter, Brisbane International Airport).

Zipping around Surfer's Paradise and the other parts of Gold Coast is not difficult.

You can either take a shuttle bus (tickets are available at your hotel concierge) or a cab.

Cab fares aren't expensive either. I remembered we overslept one morning and missed the LAST shuttle bus service from Conrad Hotel to Dreamworld. We then had no choice but to hail a cab from our hotel in Broadbeach to Dreamworld.

For a 20-minute ride, it costs about A$30. That would be approx. US$20+.

Massive rocks

by Travmad

Giroween park about four hours inland from the Gold coast is a wonder. It stradles the NSW queensland state lines near the town of Tenterfield. There are lovely walks as well as great vistas and a good swimming spot with resident turtles. The camp sites are inexpensive and quite. Good anytime of the year.
