March Holiday with 3 & 5 years old boys @ Gold Coast
by mimi168
Hello everyone,
I am traveling to Gold Coast with my hubby and 2 heroes.I have compared some prices in the several websites. Do you have any suggestion for the best offer?
What is the best way to go from Brisbane International Airport to Gold Coast (Courtyard by Marriott Hotel)? Is it worth it to go by airtrain or the shuttle?
I have been 'studying' the theme parks and wanted to know whether visiting Seaword,Movie World, DreamWorld and Paradise Country Aussie Farm Tour in our 4 days holidays are list of a good itinerary for us? How do we go from the hotel to these places?
Thank you so much for your reply guys. Hope to see you there!!!

We have taken the airport shuttle to the Gold Coast, door to door service to your hotel. Google up Brisbane Airport and you should obtain info on the Gold Coast Shuttle

The theme parks are pretty cool but maybe it is worth allowing one of your days to just spending some time on the beach? It is pretty nice down there. Also I have never been to Paradise Country Farm but another alternative could be Currumbin Bird Sanctuary although it is toward the Southern end of the Gold Coast.
There always seems to be local buses running from the theme parks but I have never used them. This link will hopefully give you more info. www.surfside.com.au

Thank you so much for the info. Helps a lot.
Just one more thing, is it worth it to buy these bus passes tru the Internet bcoz they are like offering for unlimited ride from and to the airport and theme parks (but not sure the timing) for aud200++ or should be okay to buy when we are already there.just to make sure.TQ

I havent used the bus down at the Gold Coast but 200 sounds very expensive to me! I would check prices of individual trips on the website then
see if it would be worth it.
With the theme parks be aware that Dreamworld and White water world are right beside each other but most people say you cant do both in the one day. Seaworld, Movieworld and wet n wild are all part of some sort of group which means you might get a ticket that covers all of those. Dreamworld is not part of that group.

You are much better off to get the coachtrans shuttle bus as the train will only go to nerang station, then you have to get a 20 min+ taxi to marriot. The shuttle is door to door, so with little ones, so much easier for you!!
I was a tour guide on the GOld coast so i can tell you what places you should visit.seaworld is wonderful for little ones and currumbin bird sanctuary.Dreamworld had rides not so suitable for 3-5 yr old.Movie world is great so they can see all the characters.
Paradise country is full of asian tour groups and the animals you see there, you can see at currumbin bird sanctuary anyway!!!
you can book all these inc.transport at the marriot hotel!!!
So i recommend seaworld , currumbin bird sanctuary (can do in half day!) a day of leisure, then movieworld!!!!

CHEAP ADMISSION - CURRUMBIN WILDLIFE SANCTUARY

WANT TO SAVE MONEY? Who doesn't, especially when on holidays!
When we went to Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, I "googled" Clever Coupons to see if they had any discount vouchers.
They did, and we saved $36, a lot of money to save!
You can too!
After finding the website, http://www.clevercoupons.com.au/
where it says, 'FIND CLEVER COUPON"....
Type in Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary in [FIND].....
and underneath in [WHERE] type in Currumbin......then click "find voucher'
This will bring to the Currumbin Voucher where Adults get in at Children's prices.
Print out, and take with you for cheaper entry.
28 Tomewin Street, Currumbin
Have a wonderful time, we did!

Why don't you join us in our quest for justice?
Follow closely behind... as we head 'Into the Batcave!' and.... 'fire up the Engines!' Oh... and don't forget to cheer us on as we battle the most evil villains ever lived on this planet... The adventure doesn't just end here:
You'll also feeeel how Batman feels... You'll see what Batman sees.... Every heart beat. Every heart stopping moment. Every heart wrenching cry for justice. Ah, you'd feeeel all that too! See us battle away and bring much-needed peace back into Gotham City. :-) My hero! Er... BATMAN, I mean.
Byron Bay
by robertgaz
Beaches are the main attraction in Byron Bay which is about 2hrs drive from the Gold Coast along the Pacific Highway.
Main Beach is a beautiful stretch of curved beach with cliffs and the lighthouse to the south which are near Australia's most easterly point on the mainland.
There are many cafes, restaurants, arts & crafts and boutique shops here so make some time to take a stroll around town.
After lunch take a short drive south towards Watego Beach and check out the coastal cliffs near the Byron Bay Lighthouse.
The Pacific Ocean views from the cliffs near the Lighthouse are totally awesome but it is a busy little spot so you may not be able to drive all the way to the top in your car.
You could leave your car at Watego Beach at the bottom of the cliffs and walk the 15 min's to the Lighthouse and another 10 min's to Australia's most easterly point to say you've done that too.
Public Buses
by bkarjee
Public Buses are few and far between. There is this Translink Bus Service that offers city bus service and covers all tourist attractions. They have scheduled stops and is good for local movement.
The bus fares are like this
Surfers Paradise to Brisbane: from a$9.50
Surfers Paradise to Tweed Heads/Coolangatta from A$4.20
One can save by purchasing the Translink Daily (one day ticket) or off peak tickets or weekly tickets.
These buses ply only in the main roads and the frequency gets poorer after 1900 hrs.
Great Value Malaysian!!
by grantravel about Kampung Malay
A favourite of my family for a while now is Kampung Malay. It is great for groups and celebrations. Always crowded and noisy. The food is excellent no matter what you order and service is always very friendly.
I don't know if it's authentic Malaysian but I would say their food is a cross between Chinese and Indian.
Takeaway is also available.
There is also a Kampung Malay in Mudgeeraba now.
Shop 16 & 17, 2 Bell Central, Mudgeeraba.
