Lovely view of the beach in the evening
by bkarjee
One day, we were taking a stroll along the Surfers Paradise beach, when suddenly black clouds built up. It seemed as if it was going to rain. I took out my camers and took a few shots of the dark overcast sky, with the lighted up building in the background. It was looking lovely. But it didnt rain.

Horse racing is going from strength to strength on the Gold Coast with weekly meetings held at the Gold Coast Turf Club at Bundall every Saturday.
In the second week of January every year the Gold Coast is the venue for the Magic Millions. It is ten days of carnival and society events surrounding the Magic Millions raceday.
There is a choice of over a dozen separate bars, restaurants, cafes and bistros at the GC Turf Club. It is always a fun and entertaining day out for everyone.
Also, at the Parklands Showground in Southport every Tuesday afternoon Harness racing and every Wednesday afternoon Greyhound racing is held.

by hayley_69 about Surfers Paradise Glitter Strip
The main area to party in the Gold Coast is the colourful glitter strip called Surfers Paradise with its fair share of pubs, bars and nightclubs, you will manage to find a spot you like.
Surfers Paradise has music and bars for everyone, from Irish pubs, to heavy metal night clubs, to R&B, to modern nightclubs.
Opening hours for most night clubs and bars are Monday - Sunday from around 9:00pm till 5:00am, with the nightclubs having a lock down time at 3:00am, which means if your not in a nightclub by 3:00am then you cant get into any nightclub.
Surfers Paradise clubs and bars are for any age from young to old There are no dress codes in Surfers Paradise nightclubs and pubs, but just dress wise when its winter or summer remember winter is cold dont wear summer clothes, and summer is hot so dont wear winter clothes.
In the winter does get hot inside the nightclubs, but the moment you step outside you will be cold. Take it from experience hahahaha!!!
Montezumas
by Shar about Montezumas
Its a Mexican restuarant with decore which umm...is overdone though you somehow don't notice it. Its a dark room with candles and stuffed animals, rugs and totem poles coming out of the woodwork. Though mexican I don't go for the nachos and taco stuff, I always (and I'm not kidding when I say always - I've never bought anything else) had Monty's Delight. YUM. A huge meal of frgioles on a soft tortilla, covered with a salad of cabbage, apple, radish, umm. heaps of stuff and chicken or beef - your call. Then sour cream and olives. Devine. It feeds 2 and at only $11 it leaves you money to buy a jug (1 litre) of their famous sangria!!!! YUM. They won't tell you their secret recipe though after a few jugs each......you are certain of what is in it...yummy stuff that makes you smile ALOT!
SeaWorld - Gold Coast Australia
by Gwynneth
SeaWorld. This was the most memorable time for my daughter and I. To watch her first encounter with dolphins... the dolphin trainers and scientists were truly the best people for putting parents and kids at ease with handling these amazing creatures... if you go to SeaWorld please take your swimmers and book a time to swim with the dolphins...It will be one of the most personal and spiritual times in your life...
Having lived so close to SeaWorld for years we never really realised the amazing rescue and re-lease program they have there for sick and injured marine life... just goes to show how becoming a tourist in your own town lets you see more than the 9 to 5 in your day.
