8 Days in Gold Coast

by nictan

Hi guys, new to this forum. Will be heading over to gold coast in 2 weeks, 19th to 26th april. ive been there twice before, but that was almost 10 years ago haha. currently, my itinerary is as follows

day 1: arrive at brisbane airport around 10am, half day farm tour (included in the tour package) before heading back to hotel (paradise country resort)

day 2: SEAWORLD!

day 3: MOVIEWORLD!

day 4: will be going over to sunshine coast, travel agent said the place is a must visit so will be spending the day there

day 5: supposed to be dreamworld, but im changing it to currumbin wildlife sanctuary after reading all the comments here abt that being a must visit.

day 6 & 7: this is where i need help the most. i have 2 free days. i might use up one day to go dreamworld, depends on my gf. so i need activities and suggestions that can occupy me for 1-2 days. please help! :)

day 8: flying back home in the afternoon.

and also do recommend some interesting places or GOOD dining places near my hotel area. thanks!

Hi, welcome to VT.

A point on your Day 4 - going to the Sunshine Coast. The Sunshine Coast is a large area more than 100 kilometres from north to south, with beautiful beaches and hinterland and many towns, villages and tourist attractions. The best way to see it is to firstly do some research and find the places you'd most like to visit and then hire a car for the day. It's north of Brisbane and you'll be south so the drive to get to the beginning of the Sunshine Coast will take probably a couple of hours.

yea i researched a lil. but sunshine coast is included in my package. so i will have transport from my hotel to sunshine coast. :) whereas for driving dont think that will be possible, hmm. any places on sunshine coast to specifically recommend i go or visit? thanks!

As it's included in your package I guess that the day's itinerary is already worked out and they'll take you to the most interesting places.

Places I like particularly are the Glasshouse Mountains, Noosa Heads, Noosaville. We also always stop at the ginger plantation/factory - the world's best ginger with a huge range of ginger-related products on sale.

And there is the Sunshine coast hinterland and little towns like Maleny and Kenilworth to see. And Charlie Moreland Park. But closer to coast is Kondalila Falls.(near Flaxton)

Not easy if your tour is arranged though

We live near Mooloolaba beach and there is also Cotton Tree to see. a bit closer than Noosa.

When down Gold Coast there are the Tamborine mountains if you do not want to spend all your time at "Worlds".

One show that is more Australian is RM Williams Outback spectacular.

Of course the Tweed sistrict is just "over the border" too. Marg

hmm how worth visiting is tweed? and how far is it from my hotel? thanks :)

i assume for my day at sunshine, i have a free day there. the package only brings me there for the underwater world, besides that we can more around. so would like to know whats worth visiting there, be it attractions or local stuff. AND GOOD FOOD!!!!

Have a look at this site - http://www.tourstogo.com.au/search/o504.

There's some great day tours here like O'Reillys & Lamington National Park or the glow worms & Natural Arch or what about Hot Air Ballooning :o) and the Tangalooma Island day trip would be fantastic!

Cheers, Ann :o)

Travel Tips for Gold Coast

The beaches are great, even in...

by hollyday

The beaches are great, even in mid-winter people are still swimming and surfing. The climate is fantastic, the water was so clear that I could see through the waves. Coolangatta, where we spent a couple of days. It is about 15 minutes drive from Surfers but has a totally different feel to it.It seems more laid back and relaxed (if that is possible) and not as 'touristy'.

Golfers Paradise !

by grantravel

The Gold Coast has over 30 golf courses to play on, ranging from the fun and cheap par 3 courses right up to numerous internationally designed layouts which rank amongst the best in the world.

Game fees range from as little as $5 for 9 holes up to $175 for 18 holes on the top courses.

I personally prefer the par 3 courses, they're alot cheaper and more fun.

Par 3 and 9-Hole Courses: Carrara Gardens, Merrimac, Tallai Country, Tamborine Mountain, The Boomerang Farm

Shooters and other Surfer's Paradise clubs

by lashr1999 about Shooters and other Surfer's Paradise clubs

Had a great time in the Shooters Nightclub. After a few drinks tried another club but can't recall the name which was also good. Trying to get a cab at 3AM in the morning you'll have to wait in a long line to get back.

I can't remenber if the pic is from shooters or the second club;) casual laid back

Don't Miss the Japanese Noodles!!!! (Part 2)

by shindybaby about Nagahama-Raumen Hakataya

Although it is really small shop, their food are EXCELLENT!~~

Open 7 days
11:00~21:00 (Until soup is exhausted) Fried Dumplings (Gyoza) are always my favorite food in a Japanese Restaurant. However, the fried dumplings in this restaurant are the best I have ever had!!! The dumplings are crispy on the bottom but very juicy inside!!!

The Japanese Pork Noodle Soup (Nagahama Ramen) is very good too!!! At the beginning, I thought that the Pork is just the ordinary Japanese pork we usually have in Japanese noodles.... but it is so tender and juicy!!! I will definitely go there again when I visit Gold Coast next time!!!

Japanese Pork Ramen -- AUD 8.50
Fried Dumplings (6 pieces) -- AUD 6.00

Rainforest

by joanj

Take a trip to O'Reilly's Rainforest Guesthouse, and take the short walk to look closely at a natural rainforest canopy. There is a treetop walk.
After the walk you can stop at the restaurant for refreshments etc.
