Aloha Resort Apartments

by woodpecker1966

Hi

MY teenage children and I will be going to Gold Coast in January 2007 for 2 weeks any suggestions for tours...been to Australia Zoo/Sunshine Coast....Looking for something different to do of a night time...we don't drive so it will be coach tours we would be looking at.

Has anyone stayed at Aloha Resort Apartments in Surfers Paradise, wondering what they were like (clean/messy, large/small, old/new). I know the position they are in that is why I choose them have stayed everywhere else along the Gold Coast thought this would be an experience in itself to be right in the swing of things.

Cheers, looking forward to your replies.

If you are looking for something to do at night time, the obvious suggestion is the great Australian Outback Spectacular show, which is near Movieworld. One fee for show and dinner inclusive - and a hat to wear for the show! There are also the surrounding theme parks which appeal to the kids.

Thanks for that information...Do you get to keep the hat?

lol.....apparently yes! And, by all accounts, they make you wear it during the show. Only a straw replica of an acubra though!

Cheapskates, you think for the money you pay to get in that they would give you something more substancial....don't know how people would get back into their own countries...not sure if straw is a quarantie issue.....even tassie.

lol.....it certainly is in Oz! Guess you'll just have to donate it to a worthy cause!

I haven't stayed at Aloha although I know where it is and was looking into it last year when we were there but decided it was overpriced for 3.5star(though so many of them up there seem to be these days). We had a 3yo and for one extra staying in a rollaway 1br apartment, they really packed on the $$$ whereas a lot of other places were letting 3yo stay at no extra charge. I just checked www.harveyworld.com.au and the Aloah had 36 customer reviews and received an average of 4 out of 5 so it sounds like it would be okay. Next door to Aloha is a place called Surf Regency (4 star) and I have stayed there before and was very happy with it, large apartments, tiled floors (means no grubby carpet not sure if all are tiled though!), comfy bed, rennovated, new kitchen, nice furnishings, large balcony (1br apartments had larger balcony) and most apartments have an ocean view although a small building has since been built in front of it so if the view is important, ask for a higher floor. Nice Large pool, two spas, (one roof top) and nice viewing area on top of the roof. We got a great deal at the time so not sure of the prices in comparison to Aloha though at present time www.surfregency.com.au .. they are definately worth a look in. Both are great central locations.
